Purple burst noted!

Sorry, this one is not mine, but oh how I wish,.......  :headbang1:

Not sure if anyone already said this since I only really skimmed pages 3-6, but I'd love to see something like Gibson's wine red.

These sort of painted finishes would need to be done buy, air brush pro's.
(don't know if your going down that path. Ty)
Gotta love the King Crimson one  :blob7:

Nope not enough time to tackle that. But thats what keeps airbrush artist in business!

I love this discussion about future colors and paints.

My only suggestion might be an impossible request.  I'd love to see real nitro lacquer for body colors.  I don't want to start any debate about the tonal properties, as I don't think there really are any.  But for purposes of how the guitar wears, I prefer the old school lacquer finishes instead of the modern poly finishes.  The poly looks great, but I like the old style finishes that would age with time more than the poly finishes do.

I realize this would probably require two paint assembly lines, which is probably too much to ask.

Well not impossible maybe probable in the future. We will see how many spray booths we put in the new shop.

OR
This is one very cool colour ... 'Stealth Blue'  ... The paint changes from blue to purple in different light.  :icon_thumright:
Or could be known as 'Plum Crazy Pearl'
Seen this on cars ....
Do this one and count me in  :toothy10:

Yes Swirls are surely one of the finishes we are experimenting with, color changing paints such as PPG Harlequin have also been given much thought! However those Harlequin colors are super expensive but in my opinion the best color changing effect.

What colors of the Harlequin would you guys like to see? Blue to Green, Green to Gold?.....

Swirls  :icon_thumright:

Harlequin .... Seen a ... Cyan to Purple (I think thats what it is) ... My fav

Purple to Blue is a nice color i think that should be in the line up!

Something along the lines of Crashocasters would be great.

And matching headstock option (maybe that is already possible?).

Thats pretty abstract! Couldnt see doing this unless we actually dedicated a custom shop. Who knows someday maybe they will?

Matching headstocks, yes we do match headstocks to the body finish.

I'd like to see flip flop colors, I believe they work better than your light in the dark colors.
Swirls are great, they have fans outside of Ibanez.
I don't know if Paisley is a finish but I like it a lot.

Paisley is usually a wallpaper applied over the body and routes cut out. We have discussed this but have yet to determine if the time and labor would pay off.

Yes i have done Paisley when i briefly left Warmoth to pursue my own finishing shop Roxy Guitar Finish 11yrs ago. Around the same time i partnered with Mercurio guitars in Chanhassen MN. There i had a chance to do some pretty wild paint jobs including Lenny Kravitz Blue Star body.

having done a paisley body with Tonar, I will say that it was a lot of work.  BUT - the results are worth it, and it's a fairly popular finish.  Please keep talking about this - I would like to have one!  :)

ZW scheme, but pinky  :icon_jokercolor: :p

Seriously, I really like this idea of white-gold ZW...

And the gold and silver flake be like these:

We had started the Bullseye pattern finish and even made the vinyl templates, but we couldnt find out for sure if the finish was/is Trademarked. If anyone has info about this please let me know.

I was more serious about the gold and silver flake look more like that ones I posted. That would be awesome

We do offer all the Metal flakes in a mini. Currently we dont offer Large Chunky flake do to the contamination issues. I guess customers who didnt have a flake job were not happy about stray flakes in the pain jobs!

We actually have all the large flake in stock and the flake buster to spray it, however at our current facility its not feasible. This may change in the new booth.

It's kinda weird to me that the more "flamboyant" finish requests offered here are pretty easily done by the builder. Those swirl ones especially. What's easier than pouring enamel paint onto water in a trash can, poking it with a stick and dipping in the body? There are several how-to videos on YouTube.

The target finishes take a little thought, masking tape and spray paint.

It just seems a little silly to me to request do-it-yourself finishes from the factory. They have more difficult or more beautiful finishes to do.

In addition to the blue to purple to black burst, I would like to see a black burst edge on transparent red as an option. That looks great on an SG body.

Ya but its fun! I think some guys are like me, i can buy the tools and equipment to rebuild and engine and do it myself. Or pay some guy who already has it all and avoid the headache.

Sure you learn alot and you have the satisfaction when its complete, but sometimes its just nice to have it done for you.

But that is why we have the DIY section, for you guys brave enough to tackle it :icon_biggrin:

Lately it seems i have done a lot of stock showcase bodies with either Trans Red or Dye Red tops with black edges bursted over.

Im not sure if it is in the color choices or not?

Silverburst - please.  :party07:

I don't know why that is not in our paint choices? Actually just finished an LP that way.

Thanks.

Two added questions:

Is it possible to make the fading of the burst more gradual? (Hope this is the correct term - English is not my first language)

Would a option of black burst over [insert any optional solid color] be doable?

Big thumps up for taking your time to answer all of questions!  :icon_thumright:

Unfortunately the picture doesnt show justice to the finish. In real life it is actually completely transparent to the edge. The camera for some reason makes it look like a hard black line.

Black burst over solid colors? Ya possibly i will have to see how clean it will look after spraying. Spraying solids like transparents can become problematic at times. The most difficult finish we have is the Antigua, trying to keep the burst from modeling is difficult. Overspray is the second menace to this finish which forces me to completly burst one side at a time.

Now if i didnt mind overspray or modeling, this finish and others would be no problem. We just cant let them go out unless they are nearly perfect.

Yep Wine Red has been suggested a couple times! I have a feeling i will hear more people chime in on this color.

If one orders a dye or transparent top with black back, I was under the impression the black burstover was automatic.  One has to pay more not to get it.

Ok now you CAN'T quote me on this being i am not in sales. I believe that if you order a Dye/Trans top with Black back a burstover is standard. I think you will be upcharged for a clean line which involves taping and masking the body.

I hope one of the Sales guys can chime in on this!

Trevor, how did you get the paper to adhere cleanly to the surface of the guitar when you did that?  I really dig the look but my brief flirtation with that idea was thwarted when the contact adhesive failed after a week.

I experimented with a few glues and ended up using titebond III.  The paper that I used had no adhesive.

If I ever own enough guitars to get down to this one, someday I'd love to have a crackle painted shredder. Soloist, jackson neck, floyd, one vol, one humbucker, one angled neck single.

either a seafom over black crackle or a black over fire red-orange crackle.

Wine red would be a cool addition, I'm gassing over a deluxe strat in medium wine transparent with maple neck atm

Also with the "clean line" option (in theory), you should be able to get any trans, metallic, candy tops etc with solid sides and backs (or vice versa, if your that way inclined), different colour combos etc

I think there were a couple of clear zebra tops with white sides and backs a while back. They looked cool  :glasses10:
