What colors, paint schemes would you like to see offered by Warmoth

I'd personally also like to see flip-flop finishes as an option. I just love stuff like this:

+a million.  Especially the really dark purple to cyan color.  So pretty!

And I think a sparkly metallic black candy finish would be awesome.  That's what I want on my future Jaguar, either that or a flip-flop finish.

Also, a turquoise burst would be good, a transparent wine red for LPs and SGs (seriously, why is this not an option already?  It's so classic!), neon green (I want a Reptarcaster!).

In addition to that, there are some regular plain solid colors that I have noticed are missing:

- solid purple
- solid dark blue/primary blue
- solid orange

Also, this slightly browned out green that's on the Thurston Moore signature Jag:

Good point, i believe we have not had much of a demand for the Gibson colors. If more people ask it may show up. As for the solid colors, those three colors are difficult in a solid color. It is hard to keep them as a mass tone with out going transparent. Once you mix them in a base they tend to turn pastel, and doing them as a transparent over white is difficult to keep from modeling.

We are currently working on these colors so stay tuned.

Oh yeah, and if you really want to get crazy, why not try that paint that changes colors with body heat?  Could be really interesting:  http://www.paintwithpearl.com/temperature_change.htm

And what about GLOW IN THE DARK?

I have spayed the thermal paints and they are quite cool. The problem is they dont do well with the heat from buffing and the adhesion is poor.

We currently do offer the Glow in the Dark in the paint choices.

How about a non-metallic blue?  I'd love to have a guitar colored like the Blue Mazda Miata:

I guess Mazda called it "Mariner Blue"

Most, well pretty much all of our solid and metallic colors are true vintage colors. I believe we will be adding more solid colors to our line up like the Mazda.

I've seen a few other comments on this, the "vintage tint" neck color is quite dark, almost orange. I would prefer something more natural looking.

+1 and +100 to the swirly pattern on the Ibanez Jem that Kostas suggested. I'd definitely go for one of those.

I see these in the foreseeable future!

Black candy.

Black candy, i like that name. I saw a few good examples during the PPG Certification class and we have discussed this color to be added to the color choices.

YES!!!  :headbang1:  That would be really cool.  I would actually get a black guitar if it was that kind of black.

I love this discussion about future colors and paints.

My only suggestion might be an impossible request.  I'd love to see real nitro lacquer for body colors.  I don't want to start any debate about the tonal properties, as I don't think there really are any.  But for purposes of how the guitar wears, I prefer the old school lacquer finishes instead of the modern poly finishes.  The poly looks great, but I like the old style finishes that would age with time more than the poly finishes do.

I realize this would probably require two paint assembly lines, which is probably too much to ask.

I'm glad to see invited feedback.  I realize results may vary from piece to piece and why one off pieces (swirl finishes being replicated on request) has limited a lot of customer request custom work.  I even remember a while back a forumite had a custom request that was a Carvin main stay.  You replied it was doable, but I got the feeling the watchful eyes of Big W frowned upon it because it wasn't in the list of choices.  I remember my frustration of a showcase Swamp Ash LP labeled "Vintage Tobacco Burst".  It was the usual T Burst but a little more faded and warmer.  I tried ordering, but to no avail.  I love that you guys are considering requests from the average Joe.

Or could be known as 'Plum Crazy Pearl'
Seen this on cars ....
Do this one and count me in  :toothy10:

Yes Swirls are surely one of the finishes we are experimenting with, color changing paints such as PPG Harlequin have also been given much thought! However those Harlequin colors are super expensive but in my opinion the best color changing effect.

What colors of the Harlequin would you guys like to see? Blue to Green, Green to Gold?.....

Swirls  :icon_thumright:

Harlequin .... Seen a ... Cyan to Purple (I think thats what it is) ... My fav

These sort of painted finishes would need to be done buy, air brush pro's.
(don't know if your going down that path. Ty)
Gotta love the King Crimson one  :blob7:

Something along the lines of Crashocasters would be great.

And matching headstock option (maybe that is already possible?).

Swirls are great, they have fans outside of Ibanez.
I don't know if Paisley is a finish but I like it a lot.

Paisley is usually a wallpaper applied over the body and routes cut out. We have discussed this but have yet to determine if the time and labor would pay off.

having done a paisley body with Tonar, I will say that it was a lot of work.  BUT - the results are worth it, and it's a fairly popular finish.  Please keep talking about this - I would like to have one!  :)

ZW scheme, but pinky  :icon_jokercolor: :p

Seriously, I really like this idea of white-gold ZW...

And the gold and silver flake be like these:

We had started the Bullseye pattern finish and even made the vinyl templates, but we couldnt find out for sure if the finish was/is Trademarked. If anyone has info about this please let me know.

I was more serious about the gold and silver flake look more like that ones I posted. That would be awesome

It's kinda weird to me that the more "flamboyant" finish requests offered here are pretty easily done by the builder. Those swirl ones especially. What's easier than pouring enamel paint onto water in a trash can, poking it with a stick and dipping in the body? There are several how-to videos on YouTube.

The target finishes take a little thought, masking tape and spray paint.

It just seems a little silly to me to request do-it-yourself finishes from the factory. They have more difficult or more beautiful finishes to do.

In addition to the blue to purple to black burst, I would like to see a black burst edge on transparent red as an option. That looks great on an SG body.

Trevor, how did you get the paper to adhere cleanly to the surface of the guitar when you did that?  I really dig the look but my brief flirtation with that idea was thwarted when the contact adhesive failed after a week.

Silverburst - please.  :party07:

I don't know why that is not in our paint choices? Actually just finished an LP that way.
http://www.warmoth.com/Pages/ClassicShowcase.aspx?Body=2&Path=Body&bFinish=299

Thanks.

Two added questions:

Is it possible to make the fading of the burst more gradual? (Hope this is the correct term - English is not my first language)

Would a option of black burst over [insert any optional solid color] be doable?

Big thumps up for taking your time to answer all of questions!  :icon_thumright:
