Raga's Muffinmaster Korina Jazzmaster MkII

The wiring will be too complicated for you! Lookit all those switches and gobbledygook! Do you even have enough wire?!!!

I applied two more regular coats, two slurry coats (applying Tru-oil with sandpaper), knocked back any rough spots, and did one more coat for a total of 9 so far. It's starting to look pretty sharp!

Routed the pickup routes a little deeper, painted shielding paint on the cavities, and now drilling for the pickguard. The neck in the picture is not the final neck, just one from from another build that I used to make sure that everything fit the way that it should.

Did some wiring today; wired up most things other than the fuzz circuit, which I'm still waiting on in the mail. I had considered leaving one of the rhythm circuit pots off or as a dummy, but decided to make use of it as a bass cut control since they go well with fuzz.

What do you reckon the final weight of the guitar will be? I've been dreaming of Korina for my next guitar.
I don't know really! The jazzmaster body shape is bigger and heavier than most guitars, and the final weight of my body was around 4.5 to 5 lbs (weighed with my bathroom scale). I've read that the neck, tuners, bridge etc can add 2.5-4 lbs so that would give me a ballpark weight of 7-9 lbs, which is... a pretty big range.

My experience is that korina/limba generally has a similar weight to mahogany, but with more variance between pieces

Man, I absolutely love this build ! I would love to try cutting out my own body at some point, but want to get a few more bare wood Warmoth's under my belt. Have you ever considered cutting out your own neck ?

Thanks! Yeah I’d definitely like to learn to make my own necks at some point, but it’s been hard to convince myself to invest the time and money when I can just order a great neck with my preferred specs from Warmoth instead… and I’ve just been busy with other pursuits. One day though!

I know the feeling. I have replaced a fretboard on a maple neck and drilled the inlay holes and cut the fret slots. Not quite as scary as I anticipated. But I need a new Band Saw to go further.......

I'm trying to buy some Hipshot "grip-lock" open staggered tuners like I normally use, but they seem to be out of stock most places or overpriced where in-stock.... hmmm.
