EVH wolfgang build

See how easy it is to rationalize tool purchases?

You're preaching to the choir. Rationalizing tools and hobbies has in itself been a lifelong hobby for me.

This makes me want to get a router, and that oscillating sander I've been eyeballing at Lowes... :toothy12:

It is looking great, and while I am enjoying the process, I am sure I'm not alone in looking forward to seeing (and hearing) the finished product!

Sometimes I think the entire purpose of hobbies is to rationalize tool accumulation.

I've been watching this thread since the beginning but have been remiss not to have added my compliments on a job well done.  You've built a beautiful guitar!

That's a beautiful guitar, I'm looking forward to hearing how you like playing it, how the body sits on your leg and stuff. I have one and it's quite a different feel from other guitars I have.

You accepting orders? :headbang1:

maybe I should with the out-cry to bring back with Warmoth VW.
I would have figured by now with Fender's acquisition of the Wolfie, that the "W" would be cranking them out. Unless of course you know who won't let that happen... :dontknow:

You know who, HVE backwards, won't let that happen.    You can bet on it.

According to the patent on the headstock shape Mr. Van Halen still owns it so he gets to say who can use it.

Oh I don't doubt that at all. I've met him and he's a super pryck. I'm suprised really that SH put up with his bs as long as he did..

And the semi-comical aspect of it is, without his own backyard/homemade/ghetto luthiery cheap P.O.S.-looking guitar that he rode to fame on, he wouldn't "be" EVH. Some people deal with success better than others.

We need some more progress pics... :guitarplayer2:

Not much doing, lacquer and sand...repeat.  I am heading to Maimi for two days.  I hope this weekend will have the final shots of behlens.

sorry.

Better watch out, that boy of yours might have it all done up by the time you get back and be jammin' on it... :laughing11:

DMRACO that burst turned out great, I'm glad its more transparent to the edge.
That gun done good. the 0.6mm needle will give you control on bursts not letting to much lacquer out.
Hope you got a moisture trap on the air line, don't forget to drain the compressor tank also. :icon_thumright:

no photos of the EVH.  But while the nitro is drying, me and my son took to relicing the donor guitar...with sandpaper and rocks.  We sanded the wear areas and threw small rocks at it.  I also "dropped" it in the rock beds.  I figured I would get a cheapo set of GFS pickups and but it back together.

Fun project.

I like my GFS Dream 90 neck pickup, if you're considering that form factor.  Worth checking out.
