I Have This Body... Bobber Build Thread

I got that on ebay. It took a while to cross the ocean but it got here. A magnet won't stick to it so who knows what it's made of. It does solder nicely, though. They are available in silver (chrome, maybe?) and gold, too. Here's the listing.

There's a set here you might like. If not those, Amazon has 7 big pages of humbucker covers here you could row through. Last place you'd think to look, but it's the most comprehensive set of such things I've ever seen in one place. And that's mainly just humbuckers.

People talk about Walmart ruining "main street" for retailers, but I think Amazon is ruining the 'net for online sales. Maybe "ruining" is too strong a word, but it's getting increasingly to the point where it's the first place to go to find things.

You ain't just whistling! I shop Amazon all the time. Just for ha-ha's, I just checked my order history: 41 orders in the last 6 months, that's just frik'n insane! But hey, most times I can't find what I'm looking for locally, and they have almost everything I go looking for. Usually for less $, and it ships in 2 days. From vitamins, to software, to a George Foreman grill, to gun parts, and on, and on, and on........ AND I can shop from my couch, drinking a beer, watching TV.

There's a lot to be said for that.

I always check Amazon against ebay for prices. Neither is consistently cheaper. It depends on the item.

I got in contact with Greg (Tonar8353 here on the forum) and he is going to put the finish on the body. I'm looking forward to seeing his work on this one. I'm headed later today to the paint store to pick out the color. Also, Lee at Mirror Image has the control plate polished so I'll pick that up on the way home. In a couple months when I get the body back, it will be ready to go together.

Good for you! I saw one of his finishes in real life on a Jaguar build I did  a couple/few years ago, and it was impressive. I'm sure you'll be quite pleased with the results.

I expect you're right. I saw some of his work on Instagram and it was impressive. His bursts are second to none. I'm looking forward to it.

I've been poring over color chips and think I've have narrowed it down to a darker blue. With the cream PG, it should be nice.

I always like to run my choices by her. We generally like the same or similar colors. More important is if she says something like, "Aaaah! What the hell are you thinking?" I kind of ascess my options again. :laughing11:
