Thanks. I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks when Greg gets done with it. I drop it off in Modesto Saturday and he'll be able to get started soon.
Greg was starting the polishing stage a week or two ago. He should have the body finished about now. I am really looking forward to seeing it. Looking forward to getting the guitar completed, too. After Christmas, I'll get on the final assembly. :icon_thumright:
Yestereday we went to Modesto for dinner at my sister's. It so happens that she lives just a few blocks from Greg (Tonar8353) so I swung by and got to meet him. I also got to see some of his guitars. what spectacular work! The man's a wizard with that spray gun.
Greg was finished with my guitar body so I picked it up. It's magnificent! It's like looking into a pool of liquid paint. This morning, the rain stopped for a while and I was able to get a photo of it. In the photo, the finish doesn't look as flawless as it is because of the clouds reflecting in it but that should speak to the absolutely glassy finish. I wanted a photo to post and the weather may not cooperate later on so here it is. I'm really excited about this. Thank you, Greg!
Thanks, guys. It really is something in person. LOL, I couldn't keep my hands off it and Greg had to keep wiping the fingerprints off after I'd set it down. :laughing11:
Thanks, Steve, Trevor. Yes, Greg is definitely among the talented ones. I got to see some of his own guitars and they are beautiful! When I want a nitro finish done, he's the one I'm going to have do it.
That's called Slumber by Dunn Edwards. The chip number is DE5860. I chose that at the Dunn Edwards store here and Greg went into the one near him and had them do a match of it in lacquer.
OK, there's something to see, now. I spent some time lining the cavities with copper tape over the last few days. Today I got to the point where it could go together. Here's a photo to show the progress. The lighting sucks and the indistinct shadows look blue but you can get an idea of how it will look. The next step is to string it and set it up. Then I can take some decent photos.
