EVH wolfgang build

I made several picks from leftover ziricote from my soulmate neck. They are pretty cool, you wouldn't thing wood could hold up as a pick but it does quite nicely.. :headbang1:

I think a piece of paper laminated in this z-poxy would hold up.

I just put a first coat of z poxy on the good side of the wood...getting ready for planing.

I'd say ix-nay on the burst. That is such a kick ass top, to cover it up any at all would a shame...

actually doug I thought I read earlier that he had a small hicup that would require a burst to hide. I might have to go back and re-read.

just in the back.  The debate is for the front.

OK...here is my opps moment repair.  It is smooth but needs to be covered.  A dar burst on the back and sides will do nicely.  I am loving the natural mahogany.  This was after the second coat of z-poxy.  It is still wet.  I think I will only need two on the mahogany.

Also am also showing the extra spalt to not to upset the wood loving apple cart... :hello2:

Hardware time...

OK...I REALLY WANTED antiqued BRONZE hardware but could not find it...so I bought this on e-bay for $150. I figured that $150 will get me:
--tuners: I am really not concerned too much hear because of the locking nut.  They just need to hold the string and look good.
--Knobs:  nuff said
--Pickups: EMG design.  I have played them before and sound decent.  It I upgrade I can always use the covers.
--Jackplate
--truss rod cover.
--a bunch of other left overs...

BONUS>>>>I whole new guitar body with a set neck to start a project on!!!!!!

BTW...the antiqued copper Floyd Rose original was also ordered from Musicians Friend...I wish WARMOTH would carry it.

You doing a neck plate or no neck plate? I can custom cut a brass one, even if you're doing the wolfie shape... :dontknow:

I can do brass, and it can be made to look antiqued...

OK.  Let me see.  do you have any examples??

I was also thinking of using the pick guard material for an overlay on a black plate.  Cut some sort of design into it.  Not sure how thick it is or if there is enough material.  I will know when the guitar arrives.

no wood left behind.

Somewhere in Scartozi's posts of Driftwood, there should be a pic of his plate that he aged... :icon_thumright:

headstock and control covers...

The headstock looks 1000x better with the lam top.
Everyhting is getting covered with epoxy again.  Spalt this thin is fragile.

Duuuuude, that's awesome...Not sure the pick will hold up very well tho, even with epoxy... :dontknow:

It could just be that I'm using my phone, but it looks like the scallop in the maple doesn't line up with the spalt, especially at the points.

It is the angle.  Also...I needs final sanded.  I was uncomfortable finish sanding until the epoxy was on.  The spalt is just too brittle

for the love of FLOYD...I have having some success with the antiqued hardware.
Tuners, knobs, and pickup covers on the way...but I had so share this..
