Custom Laminated body.

Yep me too, Doug Frye, my luthier in Cincinnati is very intrigued as well.
I am very lucky to have found someone with over 20 years of working and building guitars.
Keep ya posted,
Jeff.

I am curious given that none of us knows what it is yet other than a guitar body whether this is being made to a plan or sort of improvised as you go along. At times I wondered if it was going to be a flying V type but I have no idea really.

All I know is I am glad I am not the one who is going to have to sand it with all the different types of grain in differing directions.

Amen, to that!  :icon_biggrin:

The body is going to be a Fender style stratocaster. The sanding is not a problem. I actually own a heavy duty mill the entire body will be sent thru to bring it down to the depth of 13/4 inch thickness.
The luthier I am working with gave me perimeters to stay within.

That looks like a nice workshop you have. A Stratocaster now I am more curious where the various panels will end up.

Yep Doug Frye has got those cavitys for the pickups and bridge all figured out.
He us the one doing all the router work.

I suspect this body will be really cool. Stratamania is right, though, I don't envy the person who has to do the finish sanding.

When I get my neck from Warmoth this week guys, I will lay everything out on the table saw and give everyone a better idea on what's going on.
  Thanks Jeff

If you take the centerline (in pencil) and follow it to the very to , that is the approximate spot where the Padauk neck is going on. So the cavities for my Tremolo bridge and my 3 humbucker pickups will cut out roughly in the H area.
Not totally sure how Mr. Frye will do it when he sets up the router , but it will be fun to see.
Thanks Jeff.

Here is a better pic of the centerline in pencil.  Eventually all of the green poplar lumber that you see will be gone and covered up with custom lamination panels. Each one consists of about 15-20 different lumbers .
Enjoy!!
Jeff

Ah, now I see where it is going a little more. You will end up with that whole board covered and then the shape will be cut out of the entire set of panels.

I get it now. It's not leading up to a guitar body at all. It's gonna be an art deco style spice rack.
