Building my first body.

I'm late to the party on this thread but I must chime in and say that that is one of the most amazing tops I have ever seen.  I'm very much looking forward to following this one to completion.

I'm also seriously impressed by the first body you turned out - just for sh*ts and giggles (i.e. practice) - as well as the pens.

I just hope the real McCoy sounds better than the Alder practice version.  Wouldn't it be ironic if that weren't the case.  Though in all fairness, it looks like you didn't blow the bank to get your hands on all that crazy wood [insert obscene comment here].

Break a leg!

For all the nay-sayers of the Flamed Maple versus standard grade~

I wasn't a naysayer, I just would've just saved it for a top since it had a cool pattern to it...  :dontknow:  That obviously looks *very* handsome - is the main project still going to be a strat/soloist shape?

(I keep forgetting words, sigh)

Yes, Strat shaped.

??? it looks rectangular to me  :icon_scratch:

Not that there's anything wrong with that, its just not my cup of tea. I suppose it won't have any tendency to fall over when you lean it on your amp.

You really should consider at least putting a neck on it, though . . . they usually come in handy once in a while, kinda like tuners.

I'm actually hoping to go neckless for my next build.

You'll be sorry. Without a neck to hold onto, you're liable to fall down, go boom.

Pfft! Necks are an unnecessary and useless feature. I've found that with all of my previous guitars, I rarely used them. For this build, I'm going to do without. I've developed a special bracket to hang on the wall, which will secure the end of the strings. All I have to do is tug on the body to keep the strings up to tension.

Awesome - wtb sound clips when it's done!

Neckless is for amateurs. Once you've gone stringless, you'll never go back.

Neckless, stringless... Oh! I see why you guys all think you're so great at playing guitar... You're all playing air guitar!!!

This time.

Don't expect me to do it again.

Sir, your comments are rude and disrespectful! Please go away. We were discussing guitars, not jokers. You are derailing the thread with your kindly worded posts and clear information.

Honestly, I could swear that I'm seeing what looks like a ghostly imagine of an angel or a mermaid in the bottom left corner, where the Naphtha was starting to dry up. :blob7:
Does anyone else see it?

All I see is the ghostly image of an Angora tree frog sitting on a fire hydrant holding an umbrella, which is weird because tree frogs are pretty small. Maybe it's a cat, or Edgar Winter. They're all three pretty easy to confuse with each other.
