My first build.

For anyone that's interested in a modified pick guard, this is what I settled on. I didn't want the face of the guitar covered like most telecasters, but I still wanted a pick guard for scratches and to cover the opening for the neck pickup. I bought plastic and metal guards and tried to alter them, but there were always problems with the edges. So I ended up with wood. This vendor (search Reverb) sells everything from plain ash, to flame maple, koa, burls etc. They sell Telecaster and Stratocaster guards. The quality was excellent. The holes were precise and countersunk. The edges had a nice roll. The surface was perfectly sanded and sealed without finish. I was able to easily trace the shape I wanted, cut it on the bandsaw, roll the edges to match with hand sanding, then finish. I've already bought a second for another build. well worth the money.
