Building my first body.

Sooo... you gonna install it, or just stare at it?

It is installed.
For some strange reason, the brass block came with Phillips head screws, when all other screws on Floyds adjust with allen keys. :dontknow:

I'm not stringing the guitar up again until after I finish it.

I skipped the recessed neckplate, and took the easy route by doing two Gibson style toggles instead of a blade switch, but she's finally done and currently being finished.

After three thin applications of Tung Oil, the curl in the Maple really started to show up.

The Walnut back. There is some green/tan in the wood that I'm not jazzed about, but it's still very cool. This was after two or three applications of Tung Oil.

I took this picture just after applying the 6th application of Tung Oil, this afternoon.

That's a beautiful thing you've got going there, Mr. Man.

Gonna be heavy, though. Between the Walnut, Maple, 2 full-size humbuckers, a single coil, dual full-size toggles, a Floyd and the 20lb. sustain block you're going to need a chainfall to hang it on your shoulders <grin>

I love me some walnut, and you have done all of that fancy wood justice with fine craftsmanship.  I can almost taste the bitterness of walnut sawdust in my drool.

Don't forget the Rosewood/Ebony neck, and it's Floyd nut!

Mark, why don't you send me one of your guitar girls to hold my guitar while I play it. You don't want me to develop back problems, do you?

Wow man, that looks just incredible. Great job!

Edit: I would really like to see a picture of the whole body too! I feel we haven't gotten a shot of the whole thing since you finished working it.

First shots of the finished guitar, with the neck on!
The finish isn't completely done yet, another day of curing and I will apply the wax. But it's looking pretty good now, and I'm being real delicate with it.

Again, I'm not real fond of the green in the Walnut. Probably wasn't fully dried, but overall, I can't complain. It looks great for my first build.

I think it looks great Joseph, I even like the green in it, gives it some character... :icon_thumright:

there's no green, you are probably seeing facial or other kinds of hairs that rubbed off on it..

Look by the neckplate area.
