What did you apply the dye with - brushes? (And no masking?)
I started off with cotton swabs but found that to be quite clumsy. I switched to fine brushes to do it overall. I just applied a second coat of dye tonight and have to say that the second coat is absolutely necessary. It cleaned up all the splotchyness that the first coat left.

And yes, no masking. I cleaned the surface with mineral spirits before I started dying and I think that kept the dye from bleeding everywhere in the wood.

Just did the first coat of tung oil. I did a 1/4 tung and 3/4 mineral spirits mix on it so that that first coat gets some good penetration and dries faster.

Ok, well after 10 or so coats of tung oil and a coat or two of wax, I finally assembled the beast. :icon_biggrin: Here's the pics!I'll be taking better photos later rather than just with my camera phone. Oh, and it's not 100% done, I am still waiting on the EMG BQS system to arrive before everything is completely finished.
