Just recently got my Black Korina Z Bass body and Bubinga/Goncolo Alves neck/fretboard in. Here are the pics of it so far and the design I plan to put on it. I am going to wood burn all the lines and do a light stain on all the dark spots I have shaded. Let me know what ya'll think and I will keep updating the progress.

Personally, I would never do woodburning on very busy looking woods. You have to have plainer woods to get into woodburning patterns, otherwise it just looks like a mess, with multiple lines and patterns jumbled together.
But that's just me.

You might want to do the wood burning in a ventilated area. Korina has a camphor like smell when it burns. It's pretty stinky, drove my allergies nut. Not sure if it's toxic

Thats a gorgeous piece of wood to do anything but a clearcoat to. Just my opinion as a fan of BK.  :dontknow:

I know, I love the wood, and I don't plan on covering too much of it. I'm going to take my time and make it look good!

Nature didn't do well enough a job of making it look good?

All you need is a nice clear oil finish, woodburning would detract from the beauty of the wood.

I'm not trying to take away from the beauty of the wood, I'm trying to enhance it. Plus, every single person that gets the black korina does the same thing with it. I'd rather make the peice completely my own and unique.

Breathe in, Breath out. If you're contrarian enough I suppose you could stop in order to be different, but there's a dang good reason it's so cliche that every person on the planet does it that way.

Well I plan on doing the design on the guitar with carbon paper to see if it works. If it looks too busy then I'll scrap the idea. Like I said, my plan is to make something really unique and beautiful, not take away from what I already have.

Also, if you look on the neck drawing, I plan on putting Bible verses on the 12th and 24th fret for those interested.
Isaiah 38:20 on the 12th,
"The LORD will save me, and we will play my music on stringed instruments all the days of our lives, at the house of the LORD."
And Philippians 4:13 on the 24th,
"I can do all this through him who gives me strength."

The fingerboard thing is cool, I like that. It's just the idea of defacing that beautiful piece of Korina that offends my sensibilities  :laughing7:

I suppose I am against the odds here, I seem to be the only one to think that the woodburning is going to be beautiful....oh well....

I say do what you want with it.. It's your guitar.

Is this what you're going for?
Dyed a little darker and burned outlines?
