Latest Project... Arrived!!!

the fun thing with UPS, is that they already declare value, so that you don't have to pay 'formaliteiten'.

The really really fun thing with UPS is that your package will have cleared customs even before the plane lands... They send the paperwork up front and somehow customs don't mind that they can't check the contens of the actual shipment (probably they do random checks every now and then, in which case you wind up with an unexpected delay). But normally there's no delay due to customs clearance.

That's kinda scarry, I would figure that since 911 customs around the world would be x-raying every package that comes thru... :dontknow:

That's two completely different things. One purely has to do with collecting taxes and that is completed while your package is still at 30000 feet. The other is security and I am pretty sure that every package leaving the plane once it has touched down will be sniffed, x-rayed and prodded in a dozen ways.

You got a point there.... :icon_thumright:

Well, moving on slowly...

The body's finished, just needs final sanding and drilling for the bridge, but I'm waiting to do that until I get the bridge, which will be when I order the neck. The non-f-hole has been cut and you'll see how that connects with the truss rod cover and the neck plate from Doug.

Looking good!  What did you use to cut the scorpion?  Dremel?  I wish I had one of those things.

All I can say is  :o, that is just cool Rene. Very cool, the scorpion theme you got going there is pretty tight....Should looks fantabulous with the truss rod cover and the neck plate... :icon_thumright:

The neck plate's arrived... My wife beat the dogs to the mailbox so your packaging still hsn't been mutt-tested. Plate's real cool hands on, looks even better than the pic.

It's going to be a while till the next update, I'm off to France for a couple of days. Taking the body along to do the sanding and maybe the first coats of Linseed Oil.

:icon_thumright:    I thought it turned out rather cool myself, and I have a hard time impressing myself...Hahahaha, that kinda sounds like a quote from Austin powers....."Allow myself to inroduce.....myself".... :icon_biggrin:

Some progress at last, just spent a week in the southwest of France. Dragged the body along to do some sanding and a first coat of linseed oil:

Back home, did a few corrections and another coat of linseed oil. The top's turning pretty dark, almost black - I picked the lightest pictures to show the figuring. It's going to impact my choice for a neck a lot. I'm thinking of recycling the neck of the Thundermoth for this one, then getting another neck for the 'moth with a pegboard blank and finishing that more in a T-bird shape. Can't lose too much time hesitating though, I'd like to have the neck before the summer holidays and since it'll have to be a custom order that's already going to be tight.

Looking beautiful! Will follow this closely, I'm considering a linseed finish in the future.

That's looking rather sharp there Rene..... :icon_thumright:

I got a kick outta how you said.... "just spent a week in the southwest of France".  It just sounds as though your a "jet-setter" millionaire....  :dontknow:
