General feel of a 10"-16" Compound Radius?

That would be awesome. Carvins have such poor resale for such well crafted instruments… good value if you can find one that fits the bill.
I sold the Carvin in the middle of this old pic it was a 24.75. It was killer and I regret it sorta, but the neck was THIIIIIN!Old gear.JPG

So since this is a "general feel" neck thread - I have to ask. What other production neck would you compare the DC to? Are we talking 17mm Wizard I S540 thin, or something else?

Going back to the original question specifically about the radius... The 10-16" is a little to extreme for me. Like I don't think much is gained as opposed to just a flat 14", 15", or 16"radius.

Take the typical Strat neck 25.5" scale / 22 frets / 1.69" Nut / 2.19" heel. The 10-16" flattens so quickly by the 5th fret its already a 12" radius. Its nearly 14" at the 12th fret. More than half the frets have a radius between 14" and 16". Regardless of the neck profile or fret size I find it works for riffing and leads but not so good for any type of funky or non-power chords in the middle of the neck. I find the more subtle options starting smaller like 9.5" to 12" better for those styles and still able to bend easily without choking out. I've never tried Warmoth's but I've done those myself.

I used Warmoth Clapton, SRV, 59 Roundback, Boatneck and Fat Back profiles with the10-16 Radius, pro-modern construction all have 6105 stainless wire. Out of all I like the Fatback the most which is the profile on order for a Gibson Conversion. When it comes to a 7.5 radius the 10-16 is the best thing since the hula hoop.

The Ibanez FRG7620 in my Avatar to the left has a Gotoh Floyd, Tusq nut, and a straight string pull to the tuner posts of the Hipshot Locking tuners. No locking nut. I’ve slotted the nut and polished the slots and it stays in tune wonderfully despite my Vai-ish attempts to knock it out of tune. There’s a video tutorial somewhere on here that someone stickied for easy reference. If you have straight string pull, good nut treatment, good knife edges (pointed, not rounded), good locking tuners with no slack on the post, then you have the circumstances for success, the rest is up to your setup of these conditions.

I'm not a fan of flat radius (classical guitars!) but after 50 years and hundreds of guitars I've found 10-16 or 12-16 to be interchangeably perfect for comfort and playability across the whole neck. For some reason I do really like 7.5 radius on bass guitars, but on a six string, 12 inch feels fine for any sort of chording down low
