What new product or feature would be in your Christmas list for Warmoth to introduce in 2024?

A new body shape? More neck profiles? What would be on your wishlist?

For me, I’d like to see a 4+2 headstock and Jescar 51100 frets. Or a top routed soloist style body, maybe something pointier like an Ibanez RG.

What about you?

A 4 + 2 headstock you will not see any longer due to Musicman having that as a protected configuration that they enforce.

Perhaps it might be nice to see the Meadowhawk and Redshifter designs become available.

A 10 - 14 inch compound radius for Floyds.

Better (lower) shipping prices to places outside of the US.

I’ve read into that patent and I am not sure that it’s just the configuration without the rest of the silhouette. Of course, I’m no lawyer, but Kiesel offers this configuration as an example.

1 Reverse iceman body, like Paul Gilbert's.
2 Something like a small Casino body, or double cut like a Hamer XT Sunburst
3 Routs for Dimarzio mini humbucker in all pickguards.
4 Something like a Nighthawk, though I know that one's an impossibility. And I've given up on the Ovation Breadwinner.

I think the 1st and the 3rd would be doable.

Front route option on a Soloist would be killer.

I would like to see the Tele Half bridge as an option to order.

I would also like to see a tiltback 7/8 neck. Maybe with the Vortex headstock as an option too.

Fender 5 string P bass pickup and reverse P pickup on basses.

Thumbwheel truss rod. Headstock adjust modern rods without the side adjust.

Many many ideas 🤣

Multiscale options for bass and guitar. I think a lot of people would be psyched to build their own Dingwall-esque bass.

Flatter neck radius options for bass necks.

Rounded off neck heel joint option for bodies to mimic what Ibanez and Charvel does. (I know the contoured heel joint is available, I just haven't tried one and I like what I know)

A neck shape of say .83/.84 C as an alternative to the "STD THIN" with no 35 dollar up charge for leaving extra wood on.

Yeah, the upcharge for both neck profiles and fretboard radii has driven me to competitors multiple times. I get there’s an economies of scale thing here, but it doesn’t matter much to me as a consumer where the purchase price is the bottom line.

Now that would be kewl. Owning a Dingwall, I love multi-scale.

I'd like: 1) All neck styles and scale lengths to be available with the vintage/modern trussrod. 2) Some basic options to reposition the bridge pickup route. Also require detailed info about the pickup placement specs. For example, if you are using a conversion neck and want to place the bridge pickup in the correct position relative to the scale length.

Yeah I would have liked to made one myself, but I had to settle for an Ibanez BTB805ms. Comes in Friday. Whether I keep it or not will depend on the QC and fretwork, naturally. Getting real tired of buying and returning. I've returned (iirc) 7 instruments this calendar year. QC has been an absolute joke on most of the factory instruments I've received lately. Terrible fretwork needing a full level/recrown out of the box, misaligned bridges (my biggest peeve), cracked dry fingerboards, electronic issues, truss rods that do nothing, etc. I'm DUE for a good one. My distaste with quality control on factory instruments is what led me to Warmoth in the first place. If I have to repair all the work that the factory chose not to finish, I may as well get the parts from Warmoth and just do it myself.

Kiesel offer a 2+4, whether that might be classed as a reversed 4+2 I would leave that to whoever might decide to take that up in a case.

Note, I did say you won't see 4+2 from Warmoth any longer. It is a past tense thing.

Replying to my own comment to say that the ibanez is going back to the retailer. Fretwork is poor. I expect to do fretwork when assembling my own instrument, but I'm not performing a full level on a factory instrument that costs $1500. Either finish the guitar right or sell it as a kit...

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a factory guitar that couldn’t be improved by a level, even Plek’d… these guitars travel thousand of miles in some cases, sit around for months in warehouses, all to finally acclimate in your house. The wood is going to move, the frets are going to shift.

Usually it’s insignificant for all but the lowest of action heights, but that’s been my experience.

Fair. I'd still expect the instrument to perform properly when adjusted to manufacturer specifications which seem to be always a bit on the high side of preference, and I'm yet to get lucky enough to have that be a thing.

I'd like to see some of the well known off menu options become standard options. Angled neck strat pickups for one.

On my wishing for a pony list is inlet pickguards. Not that it's a big seller option but it'd be a lot easier for them and their pickguards - it becomes a lot more tedious after the fact with arbitrary pickguards (ie someone else cut it). But we aren't likely seeing that one any time ever.
