I’ve read into that patent and I am not sure that it’s just the configuration without the rest of the silhouette. Of course, I’m no lawyer, but Kiesel offers this configuration as an example.A 4 + 2 headstock you will not see any longer due to Musicman having that as a protected configuration that they enforce.
Yeah, the upcharge for both neck profiles and fretboard radii has driven me to competitors multiple times. I get there’s an economies of scale thing here, but it doesn’t matter much to me as a consumer where the purchase price is the bottom line.A neck shape of say .83/.84 C as an alternative to the "STD THIN" with no 35 dollar up charge for leaving extra wood on.
Now that would be kewl. Owning a Dingwall, I love multi-scale.Multiscale options for bass and guitar. I think a lot of people would be psyched to build their own Dingwall-esque bass.
Flatter neck radius options for bass necks.
Rounded off neck heel joint option for bodies to mimic what Ibanez and Charvel does. (I know the contoured heel joint is available, I just haven't tried one and I like what I know)

Replying to my own comment to say that the ibanez is going back to the retailer. Fretwork is poor. I expect to do fretwork when assembling my own instrument, but I'm not performing a full level on a factory instrument that costs $1500. Either finish the guitar right or sell it as a kit...Yeah I would have liked to made one myself, but I had to settle for an Ibanez BTB805ms. Comes in Friday. Whether I keep it or not will depend on the QC and fretwork, naturally. Getting real tired of buying and returning. I've returned (iirc) 7 instruments this calendar year. QC has been an absolute joke on most of the factory instruments I've received lately. Terrible fretwork needing a full level/recrown out of the box, misaligned bridges (my biggest peeve), cracked dry fingerboards, electronic issues, truss rods that do nothing, etc. I'm DUE for a good one. My distaste with quality control on factory instruments is what led me to Warmoth in the first place. If I have to repair all the work that the factory chose not to finish, I may as well get the parts from Warmoth and just do it myself.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a factory guitar that couldn’t be improved by a level, even Plek’d… these guitars travel thousand of miles in some cases, sit around for months in warehouses, all to finally acclimate in your house. The wood is going to move, the frets are going to shift.Replying to my own comment to say that the ibanez is going back to the retailer. Fretwork is poor. Fair. I'd still expect the instrument to perform properly when adjusted to manufacturer specifications which seem to be always a bit on the high side of preference, and I'm yet to get lucky enough to have that be a thing.I don’t think I’ve ever seen a factory guitar that couldn’t be improved by a level, even Plek’d… these guitars travel thousand of miles in some cases, sit around for months in warehouses, all to finally acclimate in your house. Usually it’s insignificant for all but the lowest of action heights, but that’s been my experience.
