Warmoth Jam #5

Since the last one had a ton of chord changes, I decided to make Jam #5 very simple.

This one is in the key of F# & has a bit of dissonance to it. Virtually any scale seems to work well over this track

The solo section is only 32 bars (ends at 1:14), but I did 64 so soloists could practice freely without having to rewind.

Deadline for solo submissions is 2 weeks from now on Sep. 20th.

hmmm I'm not going to do a 2 and half minute solo hehehe  :laughing7:  I mean I guess I could but I'd probably be pulling out what's left of my hair hehehe.

I forgot to mention, the solo part is 32 bars, but I did 64 so soloists could solo freely without having to rewind.

OK - so you should end up around 1:14 on that track.

I made a looping track of the first half of this  - - you can play it on repeat and it will just play over an over without a gap... it's the 32 bar length.

that's what I'll be using to do the mix

Can we use the original backing track & have you edit that, since it's probably useful to have the 1 bar count in?

You can use whatever - -as long as you don't go way far past that 32 bar end point. It doesn't matter to me, since I just synch it up with the loop anyway, for everyone except the very first person to go.

this is kind of tough because there's no obvious cue when your solo section ends.

here's the intro file I'm using:

I'm always in on these tracks & will have mine done by early next week.  :guitarplayer2:

I've done seven layers of guitar...
I wasn't very inspired for a solo so mine's more of a riff, probably more suited to intro or outro. i can extend the end held note(s) for an outro. Are you mixing again Gary? If so let me know if you want the longer end.

I can mix again sure.

If you have a different part you like then put it up and I can use it at the beginning and end.

I'm listening now. When you hear my solo I think you're going to agree this is going to be a weird one.  :laughing7:

after trying it at the beginning I think maybe I'll use as the outro - - it didn't mesh very well with the solo I did. The reason is I think because you went for a major tonality and mine is minor.

I put your part after mine and it actually worked a lot better.

I really hope some more people get in on this one - it could be very interesting to hear people's different interpretations.

I'm very much in! I have a plan, a scale and a sound all set, now I just need the time to get it done. This week could be tricky though :p

I'm intrigued!
Longer ending for the finale it is.

What are you doing to get those infinitely sustaining high notes in there?

VERY cool solo djf67. I have a Sustaniac in one of my guitars & they are indeed the bees knees.  :icon_thumright:

As always I had to give it a go, pretty challenging with such a sparse backing track, but thats by no means a complaint :)

Still a dirty track from me, one day I'll do a clean one, but didn't feel I could do anything interesting enough clean with this one. I did have a play around with some effects as well, heavy reverb in places and a sneaky little ring modulator here and there. Shame I ain't got me one of those sustainiac things, but it's now on my wish list :)

Full mix jobby (I used the intro file from GoDrex, I hope thats right)...

I'm home but all my gear is at the band's old practice space. I think I'm gonna be officially stealing it pretty soon so I hope I can get in on this one.
