Warmoth Jam #2

Don't let me hold up someone's spot. I may not even get my recording gear straightened out in time.

there is no spot - - people just go whenever they can. I don't do know who is mixing this one though.

I just made a list of the people who said they were going to record a solo. it's not an order.

20 days is not enough time to record something?

Is it ok if I do a guitar rhythm track and a solo track?

I'm not sure what you mean by doing a rhythm track. You basically have 24 bars to do as you wish. It's a free for all. Do anything that makes you happy.  :party07:

sweet! we've got four in - hoping for at least 6 more. :icon_thumright:

then someone needs to mix it....

I tried and tried to get the hang of the chord sequence yesterday arvo (my time) and couldn't get into it at all. Besides the fact I'm not a great player and even worse 'taking a lead', my difficulties were compounded by being way out of practice on my electric, having to use the Epiphone Casino as the Warmoth Tele was in pieces, and trying to get the hang of the new studio software etc. I found tho, that laying down some rhythm track on guitar first helped to identify the chord sequence better, the bass line is quite subtle in some changes. But I'll pass on this.....mostly because I haven't a Warmoth guitar on hand to use and I can't get the feel of this piece...

I tried to use this track as a session to try out my system and I got the RECORD program working brilliantly.

But I reached around in my closet to drag out some old pedals I had had in storage  ..... only to find the interior of the case I had them stored in, had deteroriated into rubbery sand!!! The result of which I lost a DOD compressor, Ibanez stereo chorus and Ibanez flanger. Luckily my Jim Dunlop Wah Wah and the Mesa Boogie switch pedal survived. Pix below (yuk!)

The case was an old rifle case, cost a plenty in its day. Luckily I no longer had that rifle in there (long since gone) as that was wortha  lot more than the pedals were. Had me rushing around checking every guitar in it's case and other gear boxes!

I felt the same way at first - the changes totally threw me off. Then I just decided to break it down into three parts and pretty much ignore the changes. I stayed in e minor pentatonic mostly and it worked out ok. But I agree that there's something odd about the pattern that makes it tough to get a hold of.

It was actually a good example for me to work with through the new studio, but my playing ain't up to scratch and I found I had to work in an unbalanced line which had too much noise in the system, so I need to find some XLR cables....However, I got to compress the hell out of the backing track, trying to get 'MOAR' keyboards coming through so I could better hear the changes, lol. :laughing7:
Dual screens working with RECORD is a scream.. :blob7:.. Had the Mixer panel up on one screen and switched between the sequencer and  rack screens on the other. Surprised at the responsiveness and sensitivity of the mixing console's features, usually with software mixers the EQs, etc., are pretty lame but these must be at least 80% as sensitive of what the SSL 9000 desk is!

anybody still doing this or did the backing track scare everyone off?  :icon_scratch:

Honestly, the backing track is a breeze to solo over. If you know the D blues scale, you're set. Plus, this isn't a huge thing. Just a fun jam for warmoth owners. I don't know what it scared people off.

I have recording capabilities in a month, but not yet. This would have been fun to tackle otherwise!

This will hopefully be a monthly thing, so next month we look forward to having you take a solo.  :guitarplayer2:

Not long to go. Surely there are more that can get in on this. Looking forward to hearing this and getting in on the next one  :guitaristgif:

Sorry guys.  I;ve been mega busy recently, but I'm off on leave next week so I'll see if I can bang out a solo.....
