I'm sick of waiting. I placed my order 12/14/09 and while Warmoth got the wood to me quickly, the rest of the people I've been dealing with have kept me waiting. I could pimp a Squier / SX for 1/3 of the money of this Warmoth P and that would be more my style anyways, doing more with less instead of blowing $1500+ on a bass I really didn't need.

What's a good asking price for a completely unused P neck, all Indian rosewood? SS6105 frets, 14mm tuner reams, no face dots and Black TUSQ nut, pre-slotted. Never been bolted on. I'm going to keep the hardware but the body will be up for grabs once it gets here.

I am not a patient person, so I don't know why I thought I could handle paying for something five months before I receive it.

There's been a huge delay with the paint job and the longer I go without this thing, the more I resent buying it in the first place.

i look forward to seeing the finished bass, but your wait has been pretty ridiculous for this thing...

No the neck is staying naked. I'm not painting rosewood. But I keep having communication problems and delays. Before I put out anything nasty here though I'm still talking with the painter to see what the issue is and what we need to do to fix it.

apparently what you need to do is show up at his shop in nashville either with a marshall and a warrant, or a couple pipe-wielding cowboys

edit: you wrote you didnt have time to wind up in small claims court, but what if you simply viewed it as an educational experience in the united states justice system as a plaintiff?

kG, that's an absolutely beautiful neck.  Rosewood is such a nice wood to play.  If you sell it now, I am sure you will regret it later.    :sad1:

I'm disappointed to hear about your delay with the body finish.  I know how much you've been hoping for this bass to be built.  I really feel for you.

Is there something else in the Showcase that would serve as a substitute for the Lava body in the meantime?  The lowest-priced P body with a finish is BP572, a "screaming deal" at $255.  It's a Vintage White finish so it wouldn't look too bad with the Rosewood neck, in my opinion.  The double-P pickup routing is a bit out of the ordinary though.

@tubby - The only way I could afford this to begin with is that around Christmas time, my job provides all-you-can-eat overtime. On my normal salary I really don't have $255 sitting around that I can spend on a body to use for a few weeks / months.

You know...maybe...if you put out a feeler...I'm willing to bet that someone here has an unused body on the cheap or maybe even for free...that would be willing to help a brotha out so you can assemble something to play until the SIMS CUSTOM SHOP CONFLICT is resolved. All about UNNOFFICAL WARMOTH BROTHERHOOD!!!

What area of the country are you in?  I bet you can pick up a Squire bass for 50 bucks and slap that beautiful neck on that.

Knucklehead fund anyone?  Maybe we could scrap together enough scratch to acquire a screaming deal for our down and out buddy.  I'm in for a modest bit if someone could spearhead the collection; it probably won't have a $700 paint job though.  :hello2:

Well, it stinks that this guy is a turd.  You should contact the Better Business Bureau and report him to them on principle.  It might not do anything, but you will have covered that base.

Then it is the arduous task of planning a 'tweener project.  If you have another idea for a bass, get a body that starts that project.  If you are curious about trying finishes, have a love for primer gray, or are willing to plunk down the $20 for a quart of Tung Oil, yeah the pure stuff, finish a bass body that will eventually get a different neck.  Til then you have a 'tweener.

I understand that what you are dealing with is a pain in the rear, and nothing is really going to change that at this point.  I know for me, the wild and crazy ideas that I run through when planning are a lot of the fun about this stage of these things.  Considering that builds have been done because someone forgot to order ferrules, this sounds totally reasonable to me.  Good luck, I hope it works out well.

If I get any small jobs, I might contribute some.

I would be willing to toss in a few bucks for the Knucklehead.  The man needs something to plunk on.
But man, have you looked at the screaming deals lately...
I just took a peek and there were two bodies and one neck in the entire lot.

However, one body was a Double P-Bass in vintage white  :dontknow:

Seriously.  Go Ghetto and get a cheap bass body from Craigslist so there's somethign to play and it's ghetto enough that you WANT to upgrade it.

This is a good idea, though there's nothing on the local Craigslist at this exact moment.. Also there is a Musician's Friend outlet where I might be able to grab a Squier P with a broken neck or something and part it out thats about 45 minutes from me, I'll see if I can get a hold of them before I make the trek. Maybe we can make an event of it, Slingbass and Vol. Knob and myself could go see if we can build a Frankenbass from dead bodies at the outlet.

At this point I don't care about a $300 paint job, if it was cardboard with a rattlecan finish but gave me something to bolt my stuff onto I'd be okay.

I just took a cut to my hours so I'm going to be in the $50 to maaaybe $100 body range for a while.. $150 for a new Squier but if I could find a beater I've got nice P pickups and pots and a bridge to put in it. Anything with a Fender neck pocket really.

The BBB has been notified already. Wyliee locked the thread about Sims to keep it on topic which was a good idea, so while ORC and myself deal with him the priority is to get a body.

Anybody have a P body for sale? I don't care if its SX or a MIA Fender if it fits.
