Tat Strat

Honestly, not really.  I like long projects.  I made a Celtic style illuminated manuscript page once.  It took me a year of off-and-on work.

Anyways, sorry for the hijack.  Back to this amazing Strat!

It's not a hijack - I like the different ideas that are coming up thoughout this thread. My first thought about your Jay Ryan idea was why not do the design in color since his artwork has so much bold color in it? Maybe carve out the designs and use colored stains so the wood grain still comes through?

Also, the woodburning doesn't take as long as I thought, depending on what free time you have. I only work on the Strat for maybe a couple of hours on 2 days a week and I've waiting for equipment to come in the mail, so I all that considered it hasn't taken too long.

I was actually thinking about this on my drive home from work, and I think the Jay Ryan stuff could look cool in color, which is amazing for me because I usually don't like color designs on guitars that much.  I'm gonna have to start drawing some of these ideas up, that's all there is to it.

Did some more outlining and shading on my Strat. Once I get most of this woodburning done on the body, I'll be ready to order the neck.  :guitaristgif:

This has been one of the most interesting and inspiring threads to watch. Wish I had the talent to do something like this.

Enjoying the process, keep it up and keep sharing!

You are going to have to carry a gun with you when you take that thing out.

To keep people from stealing it, or just to complete the image?

I finished most of the outlines and large areas of shading. I'm hoping to finish most of the woodburning tommorrow and Friday, then order the neck this week. I can't wait. While I'm waiting for the neck, I'll be sanding the black stain down so the back of the guitar looks burnt, then put a dark reddish brown coat over that. I think that will compliment the orange-tan look of the woodburning and the honey color of the oiled wood.
