as always, practice on a donor board, not the product, One of the hardest things I had to learn was how to get that blue tape on GOOD so the stain did not leak, and also if it does to sand till it clears, Patience is the key here. Look at Danuda's excellent job on the tele, he had to sand completely back to wood the entire thing one time because the paint leaked like your stain.

more coming soon I hope - I ordered one little burning tip online and it took them about a week before they even shipped it  :dontknow:

Here's how the shaded areas of the woodburning will look. In the photo, there's much more orange than how it looks it real life.

Part of me thinks that after the wood burning is done, it would be cool to tape off the burnt parts, and spray the light parts with white..... or at least bleach it.

Even if you don't do that, this guitar will turn out beautiful. Please, DO NOT rush this project. It is so beautiful, it would be a shame for eagerness to ruin it! Having said that, MOAR

Thanks guys - the unburnt maple should take on a slight color once I put -the Tru-oil on. The shaded areas already have a shiny surface so I can't wait to see it with the clear finish.

are you going to sand that black off?

I've changed my mind about the back stain a bunch of times but now I think it will be a black undercoat with maybe a dark brown finish

Here's a closeup in natural light just before the sunset. Tomorrow or Monday I'll have more woodburning done and some photos in full sunlight.

I'm seriously thinking about doing something like this, but with Jay Ryan style drawings of dinosaurs.  Oh, I have artwork to do now...

I like William Stout, but I would get Jay Ryan because he has done massive amounts of poster and album art for about 1/2 of my favorite bands, so it's music related.
