REAR ROUTE JAZZMASTER. One piece black korina with rosewood top 🤤

I have a single humbucker jazzmaster in production one piece black korina. However I've just seen how enormous the rear route is. Seems terrible to be removing that much wood for one volume pot 😓

I've mocked up something that seems better (bottom pic) but they're charging me $177 restock fee if I make the change to no routing and I have to do it myself.

Has anyone had experience doing a smaller rear route? Am I stressing about nothing here or will removing that much wood make the guitar have less girth to the tone and sound hollow?

It's for groove metal so I don't want a chambered sound1000092914.jpg1000092900.jpg1000092911.jpg

This is a rabbit hole I would not go down. The back cavity being large will not give it a chambered sound. Its a little larger than other back cavities but I also have a dozen or so Jackson guitars with equally as large back cavities. I would not spend the money to remake this personally.

OK that's good to know. Thank you for the reply mate!

It won't sound "chambered".

I build this guitar:

I forgot to take pictures of the actual CNC-machined halves before glueing them together, but it is heavily chambered, like seen in these simulations:

The guitar still doesn't sound chambered! 😅

I'm absolutely sure yours won't either! 🙂

Wow that looks absolutely epic! Ok I'm feeling a bit less stressed about the swimming pool sized hole in the back of my build now haha. Thank you!
