My favourites are Connery and Craig, but Bond isn't really my thing.

Mine either, but each film can stand on it's own.  You don't have to be a fan or follow the history, or even current events for the entertainment value of the movie(s).  Cool cars, beatiful women, explosions, but not campy.

Yeah, I can't see Charles Bronson as 007 either ....
Although, one of the first (TV) adapation of Casino Royale actually had Bond as an American secret agent ... and his CIA buddy Felix was the Brit.
