Spike tape is a theater thing.  We had miles of it at school when I was working a lot of shows.  My husband is a stagehand, and I work at a high school now where we put on a lot of plays.  I think we actually used spike tape on someone's guitar when we did Pippin because he was supposed to start playing on a dark stage.

are you in this video??  :icon_biggrin:

No, but I work behind the scenes anyways.  It was a terrible show actually.  One of my least favorite I've worked on.  I think the best was either Rocky Horror Show or Richard III.  Emma was a good one too... ah, memories!

I wanna see that canary neck!~

Me too!  :toothy12:

You are smart to go with dots; function before fashion.  For me dots make navigating the fingerboard much more thoughtless; as it aught to be.  I sure wish my cello had inlays  :laughing7: That would be great if Warmoth had more inlay options: hard wood, stone, porceline.  Turquoise inlays would be out of sight.  Adhesion must be an issue they don't want to deal with.

Adhesion maybe, but availability and cost most likely.  Carvin doesn't do pearloid inlay on Maple fretoboards, not because of any of the reasons listed before, it's hard to do because it's so soft and Maple is so hard, it's difficult to sand evenly.

Mother of pearl on a maple fingerboard is the kill. That's what I wanted on my first build but somehow lines got crossed and I ended up with plain black face dots.
