I don't know what kind of eyes you guys have, but I've gotten lost with face dots on rosewood boards!

Course, the light show was a bit , er, extreme at that show...
Muscle memory.  :icon_thumright:

Try playing and practicing without looking down at the neck. Yeah, you'll FUBAR it badly at first, but then your mind and your hands will sync up and it will become very easy to get used to. Now I'm not saying I don't have to look down at times, LOL, but the lack of face dots doesn't bother me one bit. The side dots are the only reference I use now.

You've never seen me play live have you  :icon_jokercolor:

Wouldn't it be crazy to tour with your band and meet everyone from the forum?  That would be so fun!

I just ask that you don't submit your Strat to Guitar of the Month at the same time I put in my P bass.

If he keeps doing like he has been, Warmoth Finished and Non-Warmoth Finished, they won't be in there at the same time.

I'm just not a huge fan of black pvc face dots.  I'm going to have a beautiful wood neck, I'd rather have a natural looking material on the fretboard than black plastic.  There's just something I don't like about plain black plastic.  No offense if you like them, they're just not attractive to me.  I don't mind having pvc side dots because they're very smalI and hardly anyone ever even notices them. I do wish I could get a dark wood inlayed for the dots instead of abalone, but alas, it is not available.

Don't even get me started on black face dots on a 500 dollar neck.

I'd go the cheap way and just put spike tape on the side of the neck if I really needed to.

I'd never heard of spike tape  :dontknow:  After googling it, I came up with the following:  http://www.findtape.com/category/safety-tape-glow-colored-hazard-tape-duct-gaffers.aspx

It would probably suffice for those who occasionally play out and are on a budget.  I'll continue to stick with (pun intended) the FretFX  :glasses10:

I'm a dot man, through and through. I bought one guitar without dots, and only one. I've been playing a long time, and I just find that in improvising sections with some wide position changes every little bit helps. If you play one lick on the high strings around the 5th fret, then try to play a variant around the 14th fret (call and response, sorta) the dots help. I need my crutches.

Spike tape is a theater thing.  We had miles of it at school when I was working a lot of shows.  My husband is a stagehand, and I work at a high school now where we put on a lot of plays.  I think we actually used spike tape on someone's guitar when we did Pippin because he was supposed to start playing on a dark stage.

Lol, yay!  Pippin!  I've accompanied that more times than I care to admit.

Those seems pretty cool...but essentially it's just really awesome "glo in the dork?"

Fret FX are really sweet, but I'm looking for somehting for the bari neck that's on the way, different scale
wait...now that i think about it, Warmoth's baritone scale IS 25.5 with two added frets on the low end, isn't it?...it just might work...
...Sorry to derail the thread, but i love me some light up gee tarz!!

Rock on hannaugh!!!!
