Greatest Supergroup ever?

Guitars: Robbie Robertson and Jimi Hendrix
Vocals: Margot Timmins (Cowboy Junkies)
Bass: Flea
Drums: John Bonham
Songs written by: Neil Young (not allowed to sing with Margot, though).

Note: I have absolutely no idea whatsoever how that would sound. Actually it's kind of a joke. Supergroups are always less than the sum of their parts.

My "custom built supergroup"  would have to include me on rhythm guitar because I don't wanna miss out on the fun.  :glasses10:
....Not that I am in the same league as the following musicians, mind you, but hey this is MY fantasy group dammit.  :evil4:

My supergroup would all be late 70's and early 80's era of the following musicians:

Lead Guitar:  Randy Rhoads (Ozzy)
Drums: Neil Peart (Rush)
Keyboards: David Bryan (Bon Jovi)
Bass:  Michael Anthony (Van Halen)
Guitar: Yours Truly
Vocals: Pat Benetar  (Gotta have a hottie with a killer voice fronting THIS supergroup!)

Some of my favorite supergroups are:

Cream
Derek and the Dominos
Asia
Damn Yankees
Power Station
The Traveling Wilburys

Guitar / vocals - Rory Gallagher

Organ - Billy Preston
Drums - Buddy Miles

Best Rock supergroup...

Um, I hate to rain on your parade here, (actually, I'm just trying to help) but Ginger Baker is a drummer. Did you mean Jack Bruce?
Of course, I could be wrong and Ginger might be a bass player also. Again, just trying to help.

Whoa, that was bad, I was really digging it before Yoko started freaking out. Not into the violin either... Although violin + John Mc on lead guitar with Mahavishnu was incredible.

Red king, I love the sound of your supergroup, Ginger Baker bass or not.

My Supergroup would most likely include a combination of at least 4 of the 8 people on stage in the clip below:

I honestly don't know what's not to like about this one.. it has everything you could possibly want!:
- both Jazzy and Bluesy Guitar Work
- Great Rock Solo incl. some fine shredding (make sure to watch part 2!)
- Great Harmonics
- the Most Genious Bass Player ever
- one of the most legendary keyboard players ever
- 2 of the best drummers in Music history
- and of course a brilliant song!

I never cared that much for Dave Grohl until I heard his work on the NIN album [With Teeth].  That increased my respect for him a bit.  Can't stand his vocals though.

My Super Group:
Vocals: Eddie Vedder (Perl Jam)
Guitar 1: Wes Borland (Black Light Burns/Limp Bizkit)
Guitar 2: Tom Morello
Bass: Flea
Drums: Stephen Perkins (Janes Addiction/Porn for Pyros)
Keyboards/Production: Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails/A Perfect Circle/Black Light Burns/etc)

You are my hero. :eek:ccasion14:

Oh the anti-supergroup is just too easy....Celine Dion caterwauling, John Tesh taking all soul out of the keyboards, Yanni sucking at whatever it is that he "plays" ,  Phil Collins pretending to be a real drummer, and Estoban, or whatever that Zoro looking freaks name is making even me want to destroy all guitars.

I would like to put Meg White on the drums... Phil Collins and Rick Allen are much better than she is...

Jack White is an unbelievable guitarist.  Meg White isn't a great drummer but all she has to do is kick, snare, kick, snare, and she's good enough for that...

Ha Ha!! Got me on that one!!  (Brain Cramp) Might be pretty interesting to have a drummer play bass....at least he's be able to keep time!!!

I cannot figure out why people like Jack White. He hasn't done anything to impress me.  :dontknow: The White Stripes seem to have ushered in a disturbing new trend in Rock and Roll. That is, some of the newer bands have opted to go without a bass guitar. I saw one on Letterman the other night.  I don't get it. Maybe its just my Classic Rock roots that doesn't allow me to get it.  Did you all see that magazine cover with Jack White and Mick Jagger and Keith Richards? (This month, I can't remember which magazine) Anyway, Jack has a stupid smile on his face like hes about to wet himself with excitement.

I think Jack White is great and Meg is cute but her playing is boring.

One of my all time favorite groups didn't have bass guitar: Sleater-Kinney. Though they did tune down to C and sort of play bass on guitar, and their drummer (Janet Weiss) is amazing. One of most fun live shows I've been to - saw them six times before they broke up.

The Back Keys are pretty cool too and they don't seem to need bass guitar either.
