Customised La Cabronita Tele with Worm-Holes

What the hell, Murray--make the neck BE a worm, curved and bendy and segmented! Save like crazy on frets, since it wouldn't be anything close to PLAYABLE, but it sure would be UNIQUE! :icon_biggrin:

Update ...

Have put the finish on the body ……
Just used a brush for applying the water based clear satin.
1st off I had it sanded to 220, put 2 coats on.
Light sanded with 220
More coats on and then light sanded with 320
More coats then light sanded with 400
(Tack cloth used each time)
Then a last coat ….. or two.  :dontknow:

:icon_scratch:  By now I didn't like the shine from the clear satin finish I had …. as you will see in these 1st two pic's.
No problem thou.

So I then ...
Very light sanded with some 600 and finished it off with 800. (all dry sanding)
That got it to how I wanted it and looked just like the clear satin nitro that is on the neck.
The worst part was getting that shine from the routed bits and the man made worm holes. (still finding some)

That's how I wanted it ...  :icon_thumright:

Then came .....
Everything else went in easy, ferrules / pups / bridge / controls.
Just gotta do tuners on the neck and wait for a parcel from Doug.  :toothy10:
Which is a stainless steel rear control cover and a neckplate.
Shall get some outdoor shots then, as I finish it off.
As these are crappy indoor pic's with the flash.  :toothy11:

Cheers Updown  :icon_biggrin:

Pretty durn WACKY, there, Murray, and very VERY damn COOL! You really did, in all seriousness, some beautiful & precise wood work there, man. I'm impressed as hell-of course, I love wacky, but this is exquisitely wacky!! :icon_thumright:

You all have heard the term, "that wood really breaths"? I don't think this ones is going to lack oxygen.  :laughing7:

Hey Murray you could get a cabinet and head done up to match, and call it your "worm gear"....get it.. :laughing7:

Thanks too for your tips on finishing in clear.

:dontknow:  May-be I should patent this design and get that prime-vibe hole-vibe effect happening.  :icon_biggrin:

Doug I got it    :toothy12:

Just so you can see the Whole hole guitar ......  :icon_biggrin:

Very phuuuuunny, the whole hole guitar.... :toothy12:

I think it looks badass, but I still say it needs some coloration in and around the worm holes to give it that aged look... :dontknow:

I have to agree with Doug on this one-- a bit of ''discoloration'' in and around the holes would definitely add some depth and dimensional realism to them pesky li'l digested ditches...think about it; When you're done chewin' on something, it's a whole different color and consistency than prior to poppin' it in your mouth, ain't it  :laughing8:? It better be!! Just a thought...the guitar is WAY cool, don't get me wrong! Hey, is Doug's neck plate gonna have more than 4 holes in it? :icon_biggrin:

YEP I know what ya mean.  :icon_thumright:

I know, you Greg, could colour it with your skills.
Probably even have a Worms Head poking out and wobbling around somewhere.  :icon_jokercolor:

:icon_scratch:  I really didn't know what to use in there, as it's all a clear satin water base.
I should have done in the 1st place, burned it using the Dremel tool with a grinder bit on it, or something.
Or just let a few
cigarette.gif
burn away.

My other thought was shellac, very diluted and smear that in the holes and routed grooved parts.
Would that work  ?

(my stupid Q's of the year)
Can you put shellac over a water base ?  :dontknow:

Suppose if it doesn't work it would make a nice pencil holder  :icon_biggrin:

To tell you the truth, I don't know the answer to the ''shellac over water-base'' question, but I'll bet some diluted-to-taste amber or brown dye applied with a Q-Tip would be just what the exterminator ordered...(I know Trans-Tint dyes can be used with either alcohol or water). Remember, that famous quote by, you know....aaah, what's his name; "Digestion is NOT pretty!'' :toothy12:

If you loaded up a rag with something brownish and just smeared it around... basically, it just need to be filthier. "Worms" and "pristine" don't go together.
