(...) i have been working with my hands for years (I'm a dentist) so I'm very used to rout and carve things. (...)

Bad joke time:

Does that make you... COOL HAND LUKE?!?!...

Ok, sorry, I'm done. Carry on.

Just catching up here -

You Heathen!  You've ruined a tele!  As soon as I find my tinfoil hat I'm going to beam beta rays at you!

:icon_jokercolor:

But I kid - I love what you did! - fantastic work!  are you going to put a finish on it beyond what you've done so far?  might look cool as a burst.

In any case, welcome and

:headbang:

I'm thinking to finish it in tobacco burst or in natural tung/true-oil.

tobacco would be something like this.... beautifull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the thread title, I get the "Luke" part, but for the "N4" part leaving it unfinished and with a reverse headstock is a must.  Finish it, where's the N4 aspect?

From the N4 i'm bringing the neck feel. The wizard neck is very similar to the N4's, the nut width will be the same 1 11/16, the straight 14 inch radius, similar frets, oil finish in the neck, reverse headstock.
The differences with the N4 are the fretboard wood (rosewood instead of ebony), non locking nut and the stephen's extended cutway.

The main idea is to have the Luke's sound (woods & electronics), N4's feel and Telecaster's overall look.

How about a tobacco burst as suggested above, but with a masked pseudo-binding in the channel you routed between the guitar edge and the main carved portion?  I realize that lip doesn't extend all the way around, so you might taper the pinstripe to a point as it heads north of the controls, and have it taper at the end near the neck joint at the upper bout to give it some symmetry.  Just  thought.

Peace
