Not sure where to put this, but I'm excited, so just had to post somewhere . . .

Just made my first Warmoth order this weekend, after about a year and a half of researching and generally lurking around on here (I post occasionally - but not much).

I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on the stuff so I can start figuring out how to put it together, but I've been told the estimated delivery is 8-10 weeks!

Does it normally take as long as they say, or do they like to pleasantly surprise people with earlier shipping?
. . or am I just hoping that they do?

Anyway - thanks to everyone who has answered all my questions in the past, and thanks to those who will be answering even more questions in the near future ;-)

They way 8-10 weeks, but it's more like 6-10 weeks. It all depends, it can take up to 10 weeks, but you might be lucky and have it take 6 weeks, you never know. I expected my guitar to be done in 1-2 weeks, got it today. =)

See, Warmoth makes more money by making people wait longer for their products. This strategy makes the everyday Warmoth addict conclude that the only way to control their GAS is to work on a project while another project is on order, thus eliminating the wait.
The wait is the hardest part so get yourself over this wall and it'll be smooth sailing from there. Unless you don't know how to wire. Then that will be another challenge for you to complete.

Let's hear the specs.  :headbang1:

6 weeks would be perfect - I'm off work in 6 weeks, for a full two weeks.
I bet the bits are delivered the day I go back to work though :-(

Specs?
OK: -

Left hand Soloist body.
One piece Swamp Ash with tobacco burst finish.
Contoured heel, 720 mod, recessed Wilkinson bridge routing, NO pickups holes (yes none), and abalone index fill.

Left hand Warmoth Pro Strat neck.
11/16 width, standard thin, with 24 fret extension.
Vintage tint satin finish.
Maple with Pau Ferro fretboard, and Mother of Pearl dots.
Earvana Graphtech black Tusq nut.
6105 Stainless Steel frets.

Gold Wilkinson tremolo
Gold Schaller locking tuners
Gold Schaller strap locks
Gold neck plate & screws, plus black neck pad
Roller string retainers.

Got a beautiful leather strap to go with it.

I think that covers it.

I've already got Graphtech piezo saddles for the bridge, along with all the requisite stuff required to output a 13-pin signal to go into an Axon AX-50 MIDI converter.

Sorry guys, but this is going to be an all MIDI guitar, going straight into a laptop running Reason.
Tried to go for a very classy, yet natural look so the strange synth noises it creates are more of a shock for people at gigs :-)

Sound ok?

8 to 10 weeks... yea right !!

Mine's now been 12 weeks and they're still quoting me another 2 weeks before despatch !!!

All depends on what you have done to it, volume of orders ahead of yours, weather (affects drying time), Mayan calendar, world peace, successful capping of the BP oil debacle, keeping clear of mating spotted owls, etc...

Call them everyday and ask about the status of your order, they love that  :laughing11:

No really, sometimes they come quicker then advertised and sometimes longer......but it is worth the wait.  In the mean time, do something else to take your mind off of it...like check the showcase for your next build.

No thanks.

the lack of communication from Warmoth and the delay will ensure this is my 1 and only purchase. :sad1:

Did you want them to be calling you every day? Whenever I order stuff and I haven't seen a shipping notice "yet" I just kick one of the guys an email (Usually Spike.) and wouldn't you know it, they respond. I'm sorry that you feel you aren't getting your custom work sent to you fast enough, but you have to remember, this isn't guitar center. They don't have tons of cookie cutter set up parts that are "just what you need! also buy some strings!"

Ive never had a lack of communication with Warmoth.  If I wanted a status update, I called and got one.  Not sure about the issues your having with communication, but work through it with them.  You are buying a custom piece of equipment, so patience is a must if you want it done right and to last.  We all hate the wait. but the upside is tremendous.

I've sent e mails asking for an update.. No response.

I'm far from nagging them, as I hadn't even asked until 2 weeks ago when I passed the 10 week point.
At that point I was told 2 weeks... now that's past i want to know what's happening.. not unreasonable when I was originally quoted 8 to 10 weeks.

I've not even ordered anything unusual, so yes, I'm getting very frustrated now.  :dontknow:

Never happened to me.....

Bad Karma man....

Just seems like a dropped ball somewhere, but make the call to them and find out whats going on.

You have to be very careful around here. There are some folks who will defend the all mighty W til death. Some people think that what W says or does is gospel. Now that being said they are a great company and do amazing work. But they are not the be all end all. Their stuff isn't cheap (cost or quality). You aren't wrong for expecting answers. It's frustrating not to get them. Anybody that doesn't understand that should just keep their mouths shut. Just because you have a go to guy that emails you back doesn't mean everyone gets emailed back. Sometimes things happen to cause delays. That is just the nature of the beast. However, communication is a vital part of customer service.

I don't think so... We all have high expectations, both in regards to quality and service... otherwise we would be on the Mighty mite or Saga message board!
Every company that deals with customers will experience some customer service issues every now and then.. same with quality.. at one point something will slip trough QC.

In general W is doing a great job meeting our expectations.. and yes, every 4-6 months an unhappy customer will show up on the forum. as Luke mentioned you have a better chance that your problem is going to be solved quickly if you contact them directly.. phone, email, pm on here..

Apart from the fact that e mails aren't being answered.  :dontknow:

Sent one yesterday and another today, very poilte asking for an update.

A simple reply would ease my concerns.

If I can't get service at this point, what can I expect if I'm unhappy with the product ??? Doesn't bode well in my view.
