Thanks for the replies. I wonder what folks have done when they've purchased a finished body with wood mount pickup routing.  A black felt marker has been suggested to me.

If you order an in stock body that is already painted and ask for wood mount pickup routing, do they paint the cavity or leave it bare wood?

I'm considering using dye on quilt maple but I'm still a little confused on the steps.  It seems simple enough.  But the question I have is when or even if to use wood filler or sanding sealer?  Those two items I don't believe are the same thing but sometimes I see them mentioned as if they...

One concept I have for a custom guitar build is to have album artwork on the front of the body. Has anyone done this?  How would it be applied?  A large decal is what I envision. Hiring an artist to hand paint it would be difficult and pricy because the artwork I Have in mind is very detailed.

I was wondering about the locking nut mounting screws.  On the Warmoth site they show countersunk holes going all the way through the neck.  But on some Jackson and other guitars I see Floyd Locking nuts with no holes through the neck.  Are there pros and cons for either way.  Will Warmoth prep...

Now that I think about it a bit more, I wonder if it is a combination of truss rod adjustment nut with a flat headstock vs angled that makes it difficult.

I was wondering why you can't choose a Floyd Nut in the neck builder when choosing a Vintage Modern Strat Neck.  Is there a physical reason why they don't allow this?

Being new here, and soon to be doing my first build.  I have to admit I was quite surprised that there wasn't a few stickys for build steps, tips, tricks etc.

That's a sick build there Orcist.  I have the SD and PAF in my strat now.  I'm going to change it back to an HSS strat tomorrow.  Got an Area 58 and Area 61 to go with the SD.  My new Warmoth Pickguard came in the mail today.  I'll save the PAF for a later build....    :evil4:  I was thinking of...
