Okay, so we've devolved to talking about 80s music. Damn. (Well, actually I'm kinda enjoying it...)
Well, I for one loved the 80s. I was a kid. It was weird, but not necessarily in a good way (like the 60s were weird in a good way.)
Yes, there was some horrible, horrible stuff, probably more so than other decades. Billy Squire deserved to fade into obscurity after that atrocity. But, as Cagey points out, it was the time of Dire Straits. Also Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tom Petty, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Jane's Addiction, Warren Zevon, The Clash, Elvis Costello, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Talking Heads, U2, Guns N Roses, The Jam, Prince, David Bowie, Joy Division, Jesus and Mary Chain, New Order, The Police, Van Halen, Rush, and Michael Jackson at his peak, just to name a few.
And my personal favorite album of the 80s, Tom Waits' amazing Rain Dogs album. Now, if you don't know that album, you need to. I wore it out. One of the few records I destroyed by playing it.
