Tobacco Burst Black Korina Strat

Well, these have been a long time coming. I've been procrastinating and putting it off on account of my playing ain't perfect and my tone ain't perfect, but for the moment I'm over it. So here they are, warts and all: sound clips of the Strat for those who are interested. There's some effects on some of them, but, you know, that's this Strat in its natural habitat. After playing back the recordings, I found things a bit toppy through the computer speakers, but they sound good in my headphones. I hope they sound good on your end. :dontknow:

Thanks for these – it sounds great! Will listen again later through 'phones, but already I like the glassy tone of the less distorted samples, my favorite Strat sounds. (Nice, too, that you chose "Axis" for one of them, and even used a flanger...

(Little trivia point: I read somewhere that Hendrix claims to have first heard flanging on the Small Faces "Itchycoo Park" and was inspired to use it himself.)

)

:)

Thanks for giving a listen, Glimmer! I concur, that area where everything is clean and glassy under a light touch and then barks when you dig in is definitely prime Strat territory.

If I had to pick a favorite Hendrix tune, it would probably be that one. Just love it. Interesting fact about Small Faces, imagine what it must feel like to know you did something that made Jimi stop and take notice!

Wow, Verne, that sounds as good as it looks. Thanks for posting the clips. :icon_thumright:

Wow, that was awesome! Killer sounds and playing too. Great job!  :icon_thumright:

Thanks guys! This Strat has been a real treat for me. As things turned out, she was the first build I did that was for me. Which is pretty cool. The red Jazzmaster thats still in progress was going to hold that distinction, but the time tables flopped around somewhat. At any rate, she's a blast to play and I dig the sounds she makes.

Glam shots, courtesy of my wife the photographer. Same ones as those just posted in GOM, but I'm keen to post them here as well on account of they really tie the thread together...

Thanks! My guitar building hobby gives my wife an outlet for her photography hobby. It's a thing. I do it all for her  :icon_biggrin:

Necro-posting my own thread! I think it's appropriate though...

Coming soon to a Stratocaster near me:

Figured Mahogany, Rosewood board, Flamed Koa headstock veneer, 59 Roundback profile, what's not to love? For one reason or another, thin necks are getting more and more uncomfortable for me. The American Standard Fender neck currently on this guitar is a great neck, but I've been wanting something a bit meatier. A showcase search for Strat necks with a 59 profile and a Rosewood board produced this gem, and I was hooked. Every moment that went by without me purchasing it was spent agonizing over whether someone else would...... My mind is at ease now  :toothy12:

Beatiful! What a neck. Stunning!

I know what you mean. I'm thinking it's an age thing. The older wiser we get, the more we realise that our hands and fingers wants something more to hold on to when playing.  :icon_jokercolor:

I think I agree. I just haven't entirely come to terms yet with getting old enough to attribute things to getting old  :laughing7:

What a spectacular neck. It'll look good on anything. A Strat, you say? Go for it. You gonna put that new B5 on it? Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

Not a new Strat, at least not yet (I will have a neck laying around shortly........ :toothy12: ) It will be replacing the neck that is currently on the Strat pictured a little ways up this page. I do think it will be a nice fit!

The B5 is destined for the Black-To-Yellow Thinline Tele that the OTHER figured Mahogany neck I recently purchased is going on. Man, what a time to be alive  :headbanging:
