Super Bowl

ORC, don't hold back on how you feel now.  I have to live in MN next to those cheeseheads.  They infest our state and run around chanting go pack go.  They drink all of our beer leaving hardly any for us...that's why I have to brew my own.

Was that a little Freudian slip in your typing of superbowl?  I think the Vikings did win the superbowel.

You should consider yourself privelaged--a mere few hours away from you is the Leinenkugel brewery, where they put the "wonderful water" to use the best way they can think of, and make some of the best beer in the country. Also, has there been any new shouts for a new stadium since the collapse of the Humpty Dump?  I know Zygi has been a mixed bag on this idea--on one side, the Vikings need a new stadium, and on the other, there has been a big soup bone waving at him and others in the form of the LA market and the lack of a team, in addition to the prospect of a new stadium in the works, waiting to be picked.

I love Leinie's!  My friend's dad worked for Miller when they owned Leinie's.  We got to try some of the experimental beers they did.  We rarely had to buy beer in college.

I believe that the dome collapsing is the best thing to happen to the Vikes.  I bet they get the stadium proposal passed this year.

No team is moving to LA.  The NFL will make about a billion dollars on the franchise fee for a new team in LA.  They would not get that if a team moves.

i wasn't aware baseball season had started yet much less that it was time for the superbowl yet, humm maybe I should pay more attention to sports after all if we allow the Japanese teams to compete we could call it the world series n more than us leaving them out and claiming to be superbowl champs, I bet Russel Byrd would agree as he would want to compete that way. Imagine not competeing with them for the stanley cup?

I've been a Steelers fan since I was a kid in the 70's despite being from Ann Arbor. I lived in the 'burgh from 2001-2004, and I fell in love with the city. I'll have on my Franco Harris throwback jersey, my wife will have her Hines Ward, my kids each will have their Polamalu, and my dog will wear one of the kids old Duece Staley jerseys.

That said, I really wanted the Rooneys to can Ben during his suspension. He is a 'jag off' as previously stated. If we're going to judge that he has redeemed, it should be because of what he does over the next 10 years in his personal life, not because he wins a game next weekend.

Michael Vick was actually found guilty and spent time in prison. And he just signed his first endorsement deal since returning. So I think Ben can pull off the redeeming thing.

With Ben and Vick, 2nd chances come easy when you're good.  Will Plaxico Buress be forgiven as easily?  No, because he's been replaced.  Tiger Woods would be too if he were winning.

People need to get over the Michael Vick thing already. He really has turned his life around. It's pretty lame to compare him to that douche in Pittsburgh. There have been NFL players that have actually killed people and gotten less shit for it than Mike Vick.

All yinz Steeler fans be bring'n that trophy daantawn!
HUGE STEELER FAN HERE.

Not a big fan of Ben, but you cannot ignore guys like Hines Ward, Heath Miller, Troy Polamalu, and that killer Steel Curtin Defense!

Steelers on the STAIRWAY TO SEVEN!!

The smiling master of the cheap shot? I think I'll manage... :icon_biggrin:

Well, here's my thoughts... when a receiver is going over the middle, the defenders have no remorse in laying him out (granted, the rules have gotten softer on this, and rightfully so), so when a receiver has a chance to deliver a hit to a defender, I say more power to him. The defenders say 'I want him to think about me next time he's coming over the middle - put something in his head to remember.' Hines is simply turning the tables a little and giving the defenders something to consider when they are going for a tackle in his area... but I do like your big grin icon for Hines!

All true, I'm all for receivers and running backs making big blocks. I love it actually. I love watching guys like Maurice Jones-Drew and Clinton Portis play because they really take pride in their blocking abilities. They seek out whatever giant lineman or linebacker is trying to hit their quarterback and they take them down. However, Hines Ward likes to wait for his team to make a big play, then promptly hit whoever is facing in the opposite direction as hard as he can. I've got no respect for that, and it makes me sad that he walks around with the title of "hard working blocker" when really anybody who's over 170 lbs and has a cheap attitude could do what he does. Just ask Keith Rivers. It's a Warren Sapp style play. At least Warren Sapp knew his hit was wrong.

Being a big Steelers fan and a HUGE Vikings fan. I think you all know where I stand  :icon_biggrin:

Should be a great game though

I live near the host city, and a few of the local bands I keep up with are bitching about how hotel rooms in Arlington are now 5 times the price for a night, covers for clubs have gone from $5 to $50, beers are $15, but the bands still get paid the same.  "The band wants more?  Are you trying to gouge us?"

....and the city will be frozen with snow and ice on the ground with the highs not above freezing for the next 2 days.  If you haven't seen it already, get ready to read in your local sports pages how the weather in TX sucks.

Just wait until 2014 when the Super Bowl will be played on a field without a dome in New York.

Cold?  In the Winter?  In New York?  No suprises there, and it is a known and anticipated factor.  Here it is a gamble, and we don't get snow so much as ice and frozen rain.  In the North, the roads are built for it and the people no how to drive in it.  School is out for 2 to 3 days here for what would be a normal day in the Northeast.

^^No matter where you go in the United States, everyone thinks that their weather changes in a snap.
wouldn't surprise me if this isn't limited to north america.
