Softy

Pieces are starting to arrive! ^_^ I got one of the pickups (Dimarzio Super Distortion) and the Schaller locking tuners least week, and today I received the Mastery bridge in black finish (attached).

The Sustainiac pickup had been on hold in customs for 13 days already. I wonder if the coronavirus is making customs clearance slower xD

I hope the Warmoth parts arrive by the end of this month. I wish there was some progress tracking in the website ^_^U

Yeah, I'm so much looking forward to seeing how it looks on the transparent red satin body with the black matte pickguard ^_^

The Sustainiac kit has arrived! Now waiting for the body, neck, pickguard and Dimarzio Air Norton pickup to start ^_^

Body and neck are arriving on Monday! It's been much quicker than I expected. 7 weeks ^_^

However, I'll have to wait a few weeks before I give the parts to my luthier to assemble the guitar. Oh well xD

Here they are! :D The pictures don't show the actual color (it's darker) but it looks reeeeally good. And it feels smooth as hell! Really glad of having tried the satin finish. I think I won't ever go back to gloss again ^_^

The neck is also great. I compared it to the standard thin (in the strat in one of the pictures) and it feels much more comfortable. Will definitely order this one in the future. Maybe a conversion neck next time :)

Now I can only wait for this coronavirus s**t to end, to give the parts to the luthier to assemble them. April? July? Who knows ^_^U

Looks great!

My experience is that satin finished guitars naturally go back to gloss in a couple years - at least where your arm lays, and where your tummy rubs.  :P

That's typical, but Warmoth's new satin finishes are different. Very sturdy/robust. I've not seen anything like them anywhere else. I don't have any extended time on them to say for sure how long they stay satin, but what exposure I have had has shown me a much different kind of finish than what you'd expect from such a thing. It's almost like a baked powder coat or something.

Not sure whether Warmoth will let the secret out, but I'm aware that a number of auto manufacturers are using a 2k matte finish these days.  If BMW and Bentley trust the finish, I reckon the guitar builders might be going that route also.

Thanks! I think I read The Aaron saying in these forums that the latest satin finishes are different, although that still happens with necks with satin finish (if not, I would have ordered the neck with satin finish).

I really hope this finish lasts forever. It's the most beautiful I've ever seen (and again, the pics don't make it justice) :D And boy, does this feels soft XD I'm still amazed!

It's finally finished! And the luthier has given me the surprise of giving the neck an awesome satin finish that matches the body's :D

It sounds awesome, plays awesome, and feels incredibly soft (hence its new name: Softcaster xD). It's everything I wanted and a bit more :)

I'll get some pictures this weekend for the next Guitar of the month event ^_^

Hehehe thanks, dude ^_^ I think I can safely say all my future guitars will be satin. I truly love the look and feel.

On the other hand, the 59 roundback profile is just perfect.

Looks good! Glad to hear the '59 Roundback does the trick for you. I haven't tried one but might someday.
