Just saw on Facebook that Warmoth is having a big Rio-Grande Blowout sale. 35% off all pickups and sets. Also, to make things easier they got rid of all the out of stock pickups, showing only the ones in stock. I wish I had the money to pick up a set, I really want some.

However, I'm nervous that this means that Warmoth won't be supplying them anymore :sad1: They haven't re-stocked in forever and now a blowout sale?

Hmm, Ive seen Rio G. pickups on blow out sale on one of swedens bigger guitar-building related sites as well. 70% off in som cases.

Maybe they're going out of business, or changing their business plan to direct sales only. Does anybody actually use those pickups? I never heard of them before seeing them on the Warmoth site.

Ive got a powerbucker in my five string z bass, and i have to say i am not disappointed in the power and sound from that thing.
Well there customer service seems a bit lacking/ unhelpful due to an incident asking what colour code was for the powerbucker.
Sooooo tempted to get a neck and bridge set for my jazz bass project im doing, yay or nay folks? :toothy12:

I have Muy Grande P and J in my PBass.  Crunchbox and Punchbox in my VW and Tallboy Strat/Dirty Harry Jr/Muy Grande humbucker in my super Strat.  No complaints about any of the pickups.

aren't they affiliated with Robin? They went out of business recently.. I hope Rio Grande won't

I have several of their BBQ and Texas buckers.. love them!

I just ordered some new pups YESTERDAY! That is my luck.

Ouch, things like that always happen to me too.

But yeah, I've heard only good things about them. But now that I think about it, I have only really seen reviews about them from this site.

Crap I just realized I have to get a twangbucker before I can't anymore!

Rio Grande is indirectly affiliated with Robin.. it was started by one of the original Robin employees.  I haven't heard anything about them going out of business, hopefully that is not the case!

I live just down the street from Rockin Robin guitar shop, where Robin guitars originated, needless to say they are pretty big on selling Rio Grandes. I've been using them since the mid-90's and have never been disappointed with a set.. can't say the same about some other manufacturers *cough* Duncan *cough*

My favorite strat setup is vintage tallboys in neck and middle and a halfbreed in the bridge. Love the BBQ / Texas humbucker set also =)

just put a Dirty Harry tele set into my last project. love them! i'd love to get a strat set for my next project, but i don't have the money currently :sad1: maybe they'll still be around when i do. if not i was planning on going with the dimarzio area pickups, but you never know. as much as i love my tele set i'd totally buy another set from them!

I forgot to mention that the Dirty Harry set I got was the last one I could find anywhere. Could have been that they've stopped making that set, or that Rio Grande just hadn't made many of those lately, but I thought that was really strange.

NC BBQ is better. I joked about it before, but they need to make a NC BBQ pickup. Not as beefy, but with more grunt & squeal.
