Replacement neck infos

i have a 1987 e series mij squier telecaster i have never really liked the original neck and im thinking about replacing it.

I love the necks on both my 1976 gibson sg and 2000 ish epiphone ej-200...
does anyone know what the shapes on the sg and ej-200 called? Roundback? C? Can anyone tell me, id like my tele replacement neck to feel like those.

Most of the Gibsons will be closer to Warmoth's '59 Back Contour. 

Some may feel like the Fatback, which is not for the faint of heart.  It's a big, beefy behemoth of a neck.

I would say that the necks on the mid to late 70s Gibsons that I've played - which is quite a few - are closer to W's standard thin.

You might also want to consider the fact that Gibson's 24 3/4" scale length is shorter than Fender's 25 1/2" scale. This might play into your decision.

The body and neck are what makes those MIJ Squiers so great, they were made right along with all the high-end Japanese models on the same factory line...just had a different sticker and different hardware/electronics.  I'd say the neck is probably 80% of the value of that guitar, the materials and craftsmanship are better than any mass-produced guitar today.  All I'm saying is just don't junk the neck if you decide to swap it out, it's a quality piece.

I don't know I have a 74' SG and a W standard thin. I would describe my SG as a baseball bat the W...not so much

To match those sorts of necks properly, you'll need to sand down a '59 or Fatback. The Standard Thin is far too flat of a U shape and the '59 by itself is still much thicker than Epiphone use now or Gibson used in the 70s, especially on SGs.
