My next build - another 7/8 Strat (24")

I'm looking forward to hearing how you like that switch. It's very intriguing.

Thanks Robert.
Yes, I’m also very interested to see how this works.
My first impression, trying it in my hand, ie not mounted on a pickguard, is that the normal switch movement, from position 1 to 5, feels normal. But the switching from the first to the second ”bank” is a lot stiffer. But I’m also thinking that it’s a good thing or at least necessary, since that movement is much smaller and you don’t want to switch it between these positions by mistake.
We’ll see when it’s wired and mounted on a pickguard what it really feels like.

Got the Gotoh bridge and have managed to do a lot of work on it this weekend.

I first put the bridge posts in place. Was at first a bit worried in case the fit was a bit tight and I would risk cracking the wood. There's not a lot of wood between the post holes and the bridge cavity.
But I worried for nothing as I was actually able to press in the posts a small way by hand. And then I used my small rubber hammer to do the rest.

Some beeswax sticking up out of the hole as I drove in the posts.

Done. Piece of cake.

Then the spring claw went in. I didn't realise that Warmoth had predrilled these holes. Once again a piece of cake.

I then wired the pickups to my new Freeway blad swith (which is awesome by the way - this should be standard on all Strats from now on!)

I put some simple connectors between the output jack and the pickups/switch that allows me to remove the pickguard completely from the body if I want to do some work more easily on either of these parts.

Thanks Kevin.
And it plays great too!

Not too shabby for a $150 screamin deal body, right?

Man, that's outstanding! What a beautiful guitar it makes with that neck, too. Great job. :icon_thumright:

Those white Knobeez look cool on it.

Did you have to widen the switch slot for the side action of the Freeway switch?

Thanks. Yes, they do, don’t they? :icon_thumright:

No, no adjustments needed. Just screw in place and solder the wires. Which was super easy.
And it works like a charm. Easy to operate and the additional sounds are really cool. I especially like and use position 6 & 10 (sort of position 1 & 5) which gives me 2 single coils in each position turning into a dual humbucker guitar.
You definitely have to get one and try it for yourself. Highly recommended!

That is a very clean, beautiful updated classic, Logrinn.  Very nice choices all around.  Simple can be so sweet.  I'm happy for you.

Thanks, I can see one of those in my future.

Thanks Rick.
No, YOU rock, for pointing me in the direction of the Freeway blade switch. That thing will be going on all my Strat builds. It’s absolutely awesome.
Thanks again :eek:ccasion14:

That turned out great, nice work!

I’ve used the Free Way toggle before but I had never seen the blade switch version. Looks really cool, thanks for showcasing it. I think I’ll be trying one myself......
