Hi,

i m assembly a left handed warmoth based on a Jim Root Telecaster.
the body is a mahogany, maple neck with ebony fingerboard, 2 x EMGs,
a les paul switch.

i m confused with the white selection. should i choose a vintage white. olypmic white, alphine white?
can i check if the solid colour is polyster finished?

many thanks

I'm just guessing, but going by past experience and what I currently have around here, "Alpine White" is very white. Holding a 99% brightness sheet of laser paper next to it shows no difference to my eye. Vintage White is a bit off, as if a few drops of brown tint had been added to a gallon of Alpine White. That is, it looks slightly old. I'm not sure what "Olypmic White" is, but I'm guessing it's the same shade as "Olympic White". Don't know what to expect with that, either <grin> But, if I was a betting man, I'd put it at the same brightness as "Alpine White", which some might call "Bleach White".

All finishes from Warmoth except for the satin neck finishes are polyurethane. That's true of most guitar and parts manufacturers. You pretty much have to go to a boutique finisher to get lacquer anymore, as it's a great deal of work.

Olympic White has a slightly blueish hue.  The old Warmoth site used to show all of the whites and reds and blues etc. next to each other so that you could have a better idea of the differences.

I found the picture with the Wayback Machine.

The colors are Vintage White in the back, Olympic White in the middle and Alpine White in front.  For a Jim Root Telecaster, Alpine White looks like the original color.

I'd do alpine, but that's just me. It'll be less bright than the white pearl finish that W has. No olympic white for me (except when making CBS fender copies).

I could be wrong, but I don't think the White Pearl would be any whiter than the Alpine White. I've got an Alpine white Strat here from Warmoth, and it's about as white as white gets without being internally illuminated.

the Jim Root is SUPER white. but also has no clearcoat. on purpose. he wants it to be easy to get "real" relicing. so he has that left off.

its wicked, because lets say you're wearing a brand new red shirt and you sweat while playing it... little streaks of color absorb into the paint.

so yes. Alpine White.

but if you wanna be just like Jim, it may be easier to paint it yourself.

You 're right. Anyone who wants a white guitar should order Alpine White.
