More new offerings from Warmoth

thanks, that makes alot more sense... it's still not something I would want, but... it works for other people and I can see why now... so there you go...

Not something I want but it's nice to see more options from Warmoth.

My suggestions for next offerings:

All wood options of Pro Necks for Vintage Modern necks
SS frets with binding. Bound headstock too
More neck back contours. I would like to see the same as in USACG's order neck page with custom thickness & shape
Contour Heel default for all showcase bodies and upcharge in custom orders for people who do NOT want it

I'm waiting for Abalone Trapezoid or block inlays. Last I called it was only dots I could get.

How about finally getting all the solid and transparent finishes available in the neck builders?

The one challenge here is availability.  Vintage Modern necks start with a 5/4 blank whereas a Warmoth Pro starts with a 4/4 blank.  Not all woods are equally available in the thicker blank.

Another initiative we have on the docket is to make the wood options more real time so if something does become available, it is immediate reflected on the pricing charts and builders.

What I want available in the builders:
  • Solid finishes in the neck builders
  • Cream binding available when you have for example a rosewood top on a G4
[liA solid black finish available on instruments with a rosewood top, not just a gloss finish on it all

I thought there was an issue with the vintage modern truss rod design which doesn't have the strength to manage the stiffer woods.

Never heard that. I have three unfinished VM necks: Indian RW, Goncalo Alves, Wenge. They hold just fine!

The lack of strength of the VM truss rod design was the reason told to me by someone at Warmoth, when I called to ask why I couldn't
get a padouk neck with a VM design ... ahhhh  and with a ' 59 round back profile .... maybe it was the neck profile ?

Hi all,

Sorry, this is not correct... if you look on the showcase you will find plenty of exotics in the Vintage Modern construction... The truss rod is plenty strong... the reason is wood availability... the vintage modern necks require a thicker blank.... and they are harder to come by in that thickness.... especially for a 1 piece neck. You are welcome to call or write to see if we have the wood available if you have something special in mind.

I like how they are eliminating frets, rather than providing a aareal 24 fret option. And nope, 7/8 sixed guitars with 24-3/4 scale does not count. Neither does fretboard overhang.

I would think if they did offer a "real" 24 fret neck and body, they wouldn't be able to use Fender headstocks, as they are not replacements for fender guitars.

My .02 on what would make me send Warmoth $

1. A 26.5" to 27" scale seven string neck with 24 frets. the current 25" I don't understand and the 28 5/8 is just too long. Same for the six string necks.

2. Have more seven string body options. V2 seven string, Explorer seven string etc. The two current choices are not enough.

I really believe Warmoth is missing out on a lot of sales because the current scale offerings on seven strings and to a lesser extent six strings as well. That along with the very limited choice of body options.

We've been a bit too busy at Warmoth to get some cool new options officially announced, but I thought I would at least let my favorite board know!

* 21 Fret Warmoth Pro necks and Vintage Modern necks are now available.

* All of our fingerboard radius options are available on Total Vintage necks.

* The wood options for Total Vintage necks have been greatly expanded.

More to come later!

Please increase wood choices for all neck styles that don't currently have the full range of choices! Especially Jackson! Please!    :guitarplayer2:

BTW ALL:  I've now had my yet to be announced "new slim" rosewood/maple Jazz Bass neck for about a month.  Solid/stable and a true joy to play (can you say: fast as greased lightening......thought so)!  I'd swear Warmoth made this neck just for my hand.  NOT a Geddy Lee type neck - it's better proportioned and more like a slightly smaller (mid '60's) Jazz bass neck toward the nut.  Less of side shouldering and depth. This is almost identical to my '65 Jazz neck, and has made me one happy camper   :icon_biggrin:

Cool, I've noticed my bass neck is a little on the thick side.
Well......calling your neck names isn't going to improve a bad relationship
