Les Paul Series/Parallel + Out of Phase wiring

While I'm contemplating my next build I'm going to mod my original first guitar, an Epiphone Bourbon Burst Les Paul Standard, with new Pickups and Electronics.
I would like to be able to control Series/Parallel and Out-of-Phase independently using push/pull pots, but am a little confused on how to achieve this. Either/or is a breeze, but I have not been able to find any diagrams with both options. I already have 500k push/pull pots laying around so I would rather use those if possible rather than say a Freeway toggle. I will be installing Pearly Gates, so they do have 4 conductor wires.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Series parallel for the middle position (neck+hb) or for the individual humbucker coils?

I’ve messed with the Jimmy Page wiring and ultimately just went with a single out of phase push pull after a while. Pagey only wired his guitar like that later, post-Zeppelin. The out of phase sound is great for nasally Peter Green stuff.

Likewise I’d recommend series parallel wiring at the individual HB level, putting two series humbuckers in series with each other is just mud.

Yeah, I was wanting the out of phase specifically for that Greeny tone, but the series/parallel sounds cool also. Not sure how the ones i’ve heard were wired, at the HB level or not.

HBs are wired in series typically, flipping them to parallel makes them sound more single coil like because the resistance is dropped and the resonant peak moves up. They also lose volume in parallel mode.

Putting the neck and bridge in series is more of a 4-way Tele type wiring that makes it sound like one big humbucker. When you do the same thing with humbuckers it’s not as useful.

So a stock Les Paul is usually HB coils in series, middle position puts both pickups in parallel while the individual HB coils are still in series. Bit confusing

Ahh, got it, thanks. So would it be possible to have the parallel at the HB level AND out of phase options with push pulls ?

Thanks, any diagrams that you know of ? I cannot seem to find anything in my searching.

Try this, select the number of pickups and volume and tone controls, and then you should have a drop-down list of possible wiring options.

or another approach would be look at using a Freeway switch such as the 3x3-05 model with optional push pulls, the below link is to a pdf with a number of possible ideas.

Thanks ! I see a lot more options now on the SD site than when I was using the refined search. I believe there are several I can make work.
