I like the look of a nice piece of maple too, but not as a fretboard. Don't know why, but I don't seem to get on with maple boards at all. Might be because I've been playing on rosewood boards for 13 years or so.

Maple is sooooooooooo much better to play on. Rosewood gums up real easy and gets tacky when fingers get sweaty....Brazillian Rosewood is by far the best I think for a Rosewood board....
