Going back for more - Jazzmaster

I will definitely post some photos tonight.

Question: I ordered a head stock decal, and i'm wondering if i should get stewmac sanding sealer or satin spray? I want to cover the decal and hopefully hide the outline as much as possible. I don't want high gloss.

My Warmoth neck will have a retro nitro finish as delivered.

Thoughts?

And so it begins....

And the mock up... I honestly couldn't be happier with the quality and the look.

I've always been more attracted to solid colour Jazzmasters. But after both Glimmer's and yours now. Damn, I have no idea which I prefer...

I'm right there with you. I prefer solid color guitars, but when I saw this body (and Glimmer's JM) it opened my eyes a bit.  I wanted to do a Jazzmaster build for sure, but I didn't know what color I wanted at first. I'm loving this beauty though, that's for sure!

Stellar! I suspect the dark rosewood on vintage-tint maple neck will knock it out of the park aesthetically. Very, very nice. I recently put a set of the SD Antiquities into my dad's Classic Player Jazzmaster, they sound great. Nice choice!

I received three emails in the last 24 hours...

1) Your Warmoth neck has shipped
2) Your Mastery bridge and vibrato have shipped
3) Your Rothstein wiring has shipped (I ordered the wiring package without PU's and pick guard. I re-wired my tele when I got my Inca Silver Warmoth body, but this time i decided to limit the teeth grinding....

I'm having a hard time concentrating at work today as you could probably imagine...

The initial assembly begins.

The Mastery bridge thimbles were too big for the pre-drilled holes, similar to your situation Glimmer... I read on another forum that a 3/8" drill bit works well, so i decided to try something. I happened to have a newer 3/8" bit in the tool box, so I put a glove on and hand twisted it to bore out the hole a bit more. I didn't want to use a power drill for fear or something tragic happening, and it worked perfectly!!

I'm Fender guy, so I decided that since this is not a guitar I will ever sell, I went with a Fender Jazzmaster decal. I like the 70's style with the block lettering, so I decided to give it a whirl. Good thing it came with (2) because the first one folded under itself in a couple small spots, but enough to alter the lettering a bit..

It's still in mock up phase for the pick guard while I wait for the wiring, but i'm pretty ecstatic with how it's coming around.

The Jazzmaster is finished! Well, except for the strap locks and some minor set up work. It plays like a dream even without a pro set up yet. Still so much to learn about this one, but I can't wait to break it in.

Really nice! Imagine how it'll play with a proper set-up...  :)

If we can encourage a few more JM builds, we should be able to set up an all-Jazzmaster version of Branca's *100 Guitars* here on the forum !  :o :glasses10: :icon_biggrin:
