First Warmoth Guitar - Butterscotch 52 Telecaster Project

Love the color! I'd leave the insect in, Jurassic Park style. 😜
Yep, if you don't rush and wait until it's dry and sand it, it's easier to get rid of it, but needs patience. I do the same mistake all the time.

I have receive the pickups, hand-wired by my friend.
I have noticed that the vintage tele body made by warmoth has swallow depth pickup routs around 16mm. The height of the pickup is 16mm, and I should have 5-6mm spacing for the soldering and wire under the pickups. I am not sure about whether I can mounting the pickups into the body...

Should still work just fine:
On my Warmoth telly the bridge pickup stands out about 6mm from the bridge plate and the neck pickup stands out 3 - 3,5mm from the pickguard, which itself is 2,5mm thick.

And also your pickups don't look particularly tall to me.

Looking great, very classy. Those damn bugs are a PITA, I finally learned to just walk away and not even look at it until it's dry, then repair and move on. Patience is always the key in finishing, and not my strong point.......

I repainted both the neck and the body this week, completing from sealer to color coats. Since I was using an aerosol can with an external paint-bottle attachment, following the usual recommended spray distance and pass speed only resulted in dry spray. So I stripped off all the previous finish with lacquer thinner and started over using an adjusted spraying method.

Even though sanding after the color coats isn't necessary for nitro finishing, I did a wet sanding anyway to level the surface so that the semi-transparent look more even. And I also decrease the pigment using in neck, it looks lighter now, not like the previous amber color, but it matches the body much better now.

Tomorrow will be the start of clear coats, planning to do 6-9 coats.

Thanks a lot! Patience is definitely not my strong point either. Since it’s my first build and first time spraying, every time I finish a coat I have to peek… and then I start “fixing” tiny flaws, which usually creates even more flaws.:ROFLMAO:

I’m finally learning to just spray, walk away, and deal with everything after it’s fully dry — though I still can’t resist picking it up and observing, then accidents happen.😂

Also, I’ve been checking out other builds here and everyone’s got so much personality. This color is super classic, but I’m starting to think it might be a little… boring.
