favorite bass player?

Wow, this is like the jazz soul stuff of late sixties that I love... someone throw out more names.  I'm lovin' the steel drum solo in this.

wow - near the bottom of page 2 and there's been mention of Sir Paul

all the best,

Flea, Victor Wooten, P-Nut, Alex Katunich, Cliff Burton, Justin Chancellor, Ryan Martini......James Jamison is really great though.

Billy Sheehan is at the top of my list. I just don't dig guys like Claypool anymore, it sounds like a bunch of noise.

Les is a freak  D-lux...If I could actually play stuff like Tommy the Cat I'd play it all the time......probably end in divorce but  :laughing7:

For anyone new to Jaco, I say just to get his two albums and go from there. It's not likely you'll regret it. That's Jaco Pastorius and Word of Mouth.
His biography is a super good read. Awesome stories from a wild career.

chris squire
john paul jones
james dewar
colin edwin

lots of others i like and have seen live ( like victor wootan at the filmore) but the list would get enormous

All those who can play interesting (not boring) Jazz bass or innovative bass lines. If I have to choose I prefer hearing the bass than feeling it.
