It'll be fun to see a Union Jack as the body. Will it be a rectangle or will you cut a body from the laminated rectangle?

:band:
More than likely it will be a bass body cut out of a rectangular blank that I will laminate in my shop.
Thanks Jeff.

Hi guys and gals,
No new info on my build.  However this Mandolin was just finished by Doug at his shop in Sharonville Ohio.
So, this gives you an idea of his impeccable work!
    Enjoy!!

Hi guys,  still no word from Doug. I visit his shop Friday,  so hopefully I can get some pics then.
This pic is a method I am going to try to incorporate into my " Def Leppard " Union Jack bass.  Using end grain as the top surface as opposed to laminated panels in the Van Halen stratocaster.  Reason for that , when you glue your "panels" or "blocks" together,  you are utilizing the side surface  of the lumber where better gluing will take place.
Keep in mind I learned a very valuable lesson on the Van Halen stratocaster.  Those small cracks are a potential problem in the future of the guitar so I am trying to avoid that process a second time.
With everything glued in blocks with side grain exposed,  good glue "lock" should be achieved.
        More to follow.
        Jeff.
