contemplating about new warmoth les paul

about my les paul:

My order JUST got send out! can't wait to have it all up and running, and heaving the 'GO" on the start of the build!

today,I ordered my kahler and sperzel tuners, combined less than what I payed for my first kahler unit! but I love it anyway!

this is just a mockup of how it's going to be.

probably the closest thing he could get with the program, or couldn't do the Khaler thing himself...or he's a newb...

Oh yeah, Orpheo is a total noob.  He just has more Les Pauls than I've had hot meals

I have a 7200. but that program doesnt do kahlers, and this was indeed the closest thing :)

ps: why should I be a newb...?

Not sure if you got it yet...but you may want to spend the extra $$ and get the 2300 series.  They are better built...forged vs cast.  Looks like you are builing a master piece here and the whammy should not be a weak spot.  I think the 7200 are fine...but the 2300 are top notch.

no, don't agree. I already have a 7200, and that works like a charm. first of all, the 2300 is a flatmount, and I'll never ever use a flatmount kahler. not in my lifetime. secondly, the 2200 and 7200 are made of the same componants. both milled, not stamped. the casings are the same, the rollers are the same, the saddles are the same, the finetune assembly is the same. the only difference is the cam. but the cam is also the same base unit, only its not milled for lefty players. I emailed kahler about this, and this is what they told me. they're exactly the same, but the 2200 is made by hand at the customshop, and the 7200 in the factory. the fact that the cam has to be milled out for lefty's at the c.s. and the making-by-hand makes it more expensive. but the rest, the same. exactly the same. so why bother with budging out 300 euros whilst I can have one for 150, which is the same?

my bad on the system...2200 is what I referring to.  Things must have changed.  When I spoke to the Kahler guy some time ago (they had just reopened) I was confused too.  He told me 2200 and 2300 are all hand made and forged here in the USA.  The Hybrids 7000 series we cast and made in Japan.

I have seen more Kahler on factory guitars too..I think those are the x-trems...4000 series.

either way...glad to see Kahler is stepping up to the plate with a fine product...I love mine.  I had an Explorer with a stud mount Kahler in the 80s.  AWESOME!

What locking nut did you get?  Are you depending only on the locking tuners?  I used a Floyd nut last time...works well.

well, it would be stupid if the hybrid's made in japan, cause the stamp on the back says in bold capitol letters: MADE IN USA :P

the xtrem is indeed asian, but thats chinese, not japanese. I have a locking nut by floyd rose/schaller. the kahler SUCKS. I also use, on my current kahler guitar, a wilkinson roller nut as a string retainer (long story). on this build, I'll use a schaller/floyd locknut too. the sperzels are just for ease of string changing. nothing more, nothing less.

sounds like the same set up I used...Guess I had the xtrem and hybrids mixed up.

Come to think of it..when I recieved my 2315 (I wanted brass), it had a lock on it like the Hybrids.  He said the are incorporating the feature on ALL their 2000 and 7000 series whammy.  Makes sence if it is the same casting.

I cannot wait to see yours.  here is mine with the Kahler...we are in the minority here....

well, this is my kahler-guitar.

this guitar will be my 2nd kahler guitar. I realise I wasn't clear about that. the guitar has this strange setup, because the headstock is NOT angled. because of that, I needed a retainer. well, thats ugly, so I decided to put in a locking nut. thats ugly as a stand alone, so I installed the kahler. it still needed the bar retainer, so I choose even more metal; the wilkinson roller nut :)

nice axe btw! I really dig  kahlers. they're the best tremolo's. for me, they're tremoloing hard tails :P

I like the top on that...good luck with the new build...what does your time line look like?

what do you mean by timeline?

before the end of the week, the building will start. from then, the 2 month countdown will commence. in the mean time, I will have sold 3 guitars, which make up for at least 1500$, thus settling the funds for this project, the kahler and the sperzels (which have been bought by credit card at the moment). also, I'll have enough money to spare for the trisonic/alumitones. is that what you mean?

Dan, I hate you! You put me up to this, to THIS!!!

multi laminate back! and the most upper part of the RW will still be visable, even with binding for the purpleheart! DAMN this is not gooodd for my $$$ (but eventually, I'll dig it!). I'm just waiting now on the final price quote. New additions:

kahler rout (asked for, if I have to pay: I'll do it myself)
big controlrout. no biggy, but I might have to pay for the 4 potholes. if thats the case, I'll do it myself.

just updated the specsheet with macassar ebony headstock veneer. the yellowness of the canary will clash MAJOR with the rest of the guitar. the headstock at least.

great... due to miscommunication, I have to wait until past the weekend to get this all arranged. I dont understand why it had to take 2,5 days to say, no sorry, can't do this and that, we've got this and this as an alternative. Really bugs me. 2 weeks and 3 phone calls, and still the build hasn't started.
