contemplating about new warmoth les paul

what ever became of the other three les pauls you were having made by that other guy in England?

Brian

is being done at the moment. will take another 2 or 3 months.

the major reason, except for my love for koa, les pauls, carved top and warmoth, to have this guitar build, is that I have TWO purple les pauls by warmoth, TWO burst les pauls with dot-inlay, but only ONE koa les paul with walnut back!! this is a HUGE bug up my ass, since I 'need' symmetry.

also, this is my way of spending money in the USA and thus, boosting the US-economy ;)

Sounds like an awesome build Orpheo!

How many Pauls will you have once this and those customs from England are done anyways?

Without knowing exactly what you have already (maybe you could post a pic of the collection) I'll step out with one.

Figured Walnut top
Wenge back (1-piece and chambered)
Wenge neck
Zircote fingerboard

3-pup P90 layout
Strat controls (3 knob and 5-way blade)
or
3-pup HB layout
Strat controls (3 knob each w/push-pull pots for coil tapping options and 5-way blade)

Wilkinson trem
No binding, no color, all wood w/clear gloss finish to bring out the wood patterns!!!

well... I dig the idea a lot, butttt......

I have this guitar, almost exactly spec'd like this!

I've got a wenge neck, one of my UK build guitars will feature a wenge body, and walnut is something I'll do in a later stadium with another bodyback. I also already have 3 p94's (the body was rout for humbuckers) with the wiring you posted, with a hipshot, which in my opinion, is 10000x better than a wilkie ;)

this is my setup for guitars, right now:

100_0538.jpg

the list:

3 gibson LP customs
2 studios with maple top/ebony board (on the pic, the natural was sold, just this thursday; never played it! though, a great guitar)
1 studio faded with mahogany top and RW board (for sale)
1 the paul

warmoth with AAAAA flamed maple top, flamed black korina back, hipshot trem, indian RW neck, BRW fingerboard, custom pickups, celtic cross inlay
warmoth with AAAA quilt maple top, singlepiece mahogany back, hipshot trem, BRW neck+fingerboard, motherbuckers, naked stripping girls inlay
warmoth with AAAA flamed maple top, mah. back, wenge neck, ebony fingerboard, rio grande BBQ/TX pickups with coiltap
warmoth with AAAAA quilt maple DL top , the first to be sold by the showcase if I'm not mistaken, padouk neck, ebony board (almost macassar!) jb/jazz pickups, coiltap
warmoth with koa top on walnut, ziricote neck, macassar ebony board, custom warmoth inlay, prails in bridge and neck, d-activator in middle, custom wiring (2x concentric pot, 2x 1meg ohm pot, soon it will get triple shot rings), kahler hybrid trem, so it can be locked down aswell, wilkinson roller nut as string retainer, schaller locking nut.

crimson guitars singlecut, padouk back, wenge top, bocote/wenge neck,9pc. lam, ebony board, celtic cross inlay, ebony pickup rings, WOODEN BODYBINDING!, custom designed (BY ME!), pickups, custom designed headstock and inlay, snakewood/maple binding on neck

crimson guitars singlecut, purpleheart back, RW top, pau ferro/bubinga neck, 9pc lam., ebony board, celtic cross inlay, ebony picup rings, wooden bodybinding, custom designed pickups, custom designed headstock and inlay, snakewood/maple binding on neck

crimson guitars singlecut, mahogany back, bubinga top, semi hollow design, bubinga sound posts, SNAKEWOOD fingerboard, maple binding on neck, custom made pickups (not my design this time ;) )

the crimsons are not yet done though! the semi should arrive in a month time.

OK, I'M DONE!!! LOL

Well I think if you want something to compliment the Koa top/Walnut back, then swap it up.

Koa back w/Figured Walnut top
Pau Ferro neck
Zircote fingerboard

And just for kicks,
Angled Strat headstock
3-pup P90 layout
Strat controls (3 knob and 5-way blade)
or
3-pup HB layout
Strat controls (3 knob each w/push-pull pots for coil tapping options and 5-way blade)
or
Mini HB/Lipstick/P90 (B/M/N) with either of the above control layouts.
or
3 Single coil pups with either of the above control layouts.

Make it a Strat with a LP body shape.  :headbang1:

Could always order this and make several awesome one piece bubinga carved topped LP's with the woodgrain in any direction you want, including "waterfall"!

I got official word that a lamback will be done, but WITHOUT the contoured heel, which I don't mind, cause my hand never reaches or touches that piece of wood anyway.

a mockup will come later. this guitar will be a tribute to my first Koa les paul, which is a tribute to my first warmoth, which is a tribute to my first LP 3 pickup custom  :cool01: :party07:

is the first one the one you bought from Fred? or wasn't that a Warmoth?

cool idea, but not really 100% my thing ;) I don't like ziricote as a fretboard wood, it will always be and stay: ebony. pau ferro is something I already have, or will get, so thats a no go aswell ;) the mini/lipstick/p90 is a COOL idea, but only for a homebuild guitar, not for a guitar which is so bloody expensive as warmoth.

warmoth won't do a koa back, because of its limited availability. besides, I 'need' the sound of a soft topwood on a hard backwood. thats 100% my sound.
@marko: the first one was my own build, Fred did the finish though. the second one, the one with the naked girls, was the one from Fred.

That would be sexy with a binding.

sure, but that would be multiply, and warmoth won't do that ;) so, no binding, but maple laminates. besides, I already have a wenge TOP, so the best idea, except for the first idea, copying the koa, is purpleheart on rosewood, with a canary neck and ebony board.

i got the price quote just this moment.

1260 for the body, 328 for the neck. bit 'pricey', but I'm omitting a LOT of stuff, like binding and inlay. maybe, later, I'll put on some inlay, but not now. now I just want the woods. the sheer beauty of the woods.

purpleheart on top, rosewood on back, with maple laminate, which will give it a bit of a les paul vibe (rosewood=> mahogany, purpleheart=> maple, kinda), with a canary neck with macassar board. compound radius, 6100 frets, LP headstock (the bigger, the better!), maybe a special MoP 'decal' on the headstock, to finish it off, but nothing too fancy.

the tuners will be sperzel, bridge: kahler. pickups: alumitone singlecoils with trisonics 3 of each, to make that 3 humbucking pickup look.

this will be most likely the heaviest, most sick build I've ever concieved from warmoth, but man, I think its worth it, big time!

just send out an email about a singlepiece rosewood back. Curious on that upcharge.

If I'm not wrong a all rosewood strat/tele body is US$580...

I have the price for a RW/purpleheart body, but I wish to have a SINGLEPIECE back :) if not, I'll settle with regular, and if thats the case, I will also take binding and inlay. yeah, I'm a p.i.m.p. haha, gold hardware, gold pickups, flashy whorehouse inlay... me like!!!
