Anyone up for a blues jam?

Damn! I would totally want to do this, but alas; i do not have any recording equipment with me. i will in a couple weeks though. So if this lasts long enough i will put in a solo submission

OK here's my mix of the first two solos:

If everyone can do their own mix and post the bare guitar track, there will be minimal loss of quality when it's all done.

I also think we should just extend the backing track for as long as we need to to accommodate anyone that wants to lay down a solo. It's not a problem to extend the backing, so feel free.

I think if we just do a first come first served deal it will work out great and we won't have to wait as long for people to try an record in any kind of order..

So whoever wants to go next - get your recordings up! :icon_thumright:

also, speaking of recording, what kind of software would you guys recommend? the fast track ultra I ordered comes with a copy of Ableton Live Lite, but I'm wanting to use it to record songs. do looping, panning, balancing the mix, edit/copy/paste audio clips, possibly effects, program drums, recording bass/vocals/guitar/sax/synth, use Amplitube, things like that. is there one program that does these things? or are these all going to be from different programs. I'm just not sure what to use. I believe Ableton Live Lite will be fine for things like this, but as far as constructing songs, utilizing multiple tracks and all the other stuff that goes along with professional style music production, will just anything do? I'm somewhat of a beginner with this stuff, btw. I have experience with making songs out of pre-existing loops in acid pro, so I kind of understand that, but I've never done anything like making my completely own songs from the ground up on a computer before. I'm using Windows XP, btw.

Reaper - powerful and free:

Thanks for this. I'll check these out.

Ok, then, you're in charge of mixing. So what is it you need? Just the solo with no backing with it?
MULLY

No I need both - - because without the backing I can't tell exactly where they started, and then it's really hard to get the timing right.

so... the best would be to put up a mix and the bare guitar track - - and then I can look and listen to the mix and make sure the timing is right - and then add the bare guitar to the next section.

My soundcard died & I'm getting a new one tomorrow, so my solo will be delayed by a day or so.

Also, should I do my solo on the original MP3 or on the one that already has a solo on there.

it doesn't matter - if you can upload your mix and your raw guitar track, I'll add your track.

Well, like I said in a previous post, I've done this before on another forum and everyone just takes the previous track and lays theirs over it. I personally haven't noticed a real bad drop in quality of the recordings. We're not making a CD or anything, just a friendly jam for the members. It's entirely up to you though, man. Just seems like a lot of work for something like this.

I like the extending idea to fit everyone in. First come, first served sounds good too. I'll try to get mine done tonight.

no not really at this pace - - maybe getting one track a day if that

people can record it however they want. i just thought it would make it easier if one guy feels like doing it but he's not on the list or in line yet, he can still get in on it - and those on the list can also get in there anytime they want. I figure it will happen faster this way - less waiting around for the next guy to get his act together.  :laughing7:

OK I'm bumping this up so people don't miss it.

Here's the deal now:

Anyone that wants to can get in on this at any time - don't worry about the list or the order - forget that.

Just get the backing track: http://www.wfzr.net/warmoth/blues%20jam%20-%20get%20close.mp3   - right click save file as or whatever

then record a 24 bar track to that anywhere you want - doesn't matter.

then put your mix of the backing and your solo AND your solo track with no backing online somewhere I can get it and post here with the links and info about what you used to do the track. (email them to me if you have to - godrex@wfzr.net )

then I'll put your solo next in line in the mix  - first come first served.

that's it :) :guitarplayer2:

One thing, we should make an ending date. This will take forever if we don't. So, all tracks in by June 15. That gives everyone 2 weeks. More than enough time.
MULLY

quick update. I have the Fast Track Pro, and Amplitube. so, I'm just doing some tweaking and I'm about to record my 24 bars.

back. here it is.

Geez. Sorry to hear that. That's awful. I had it happen a long time ago, and while I didn't lose too much, I still felt violated, frustrated, and ultimately very angry.

Are you in a neighborhood where the cops might actually do something, or is this sort of thing not unusual and not followed up on?

http://www.wfzr.net/warmoth/UWbluesjampart3.mp3 - - the jam so far...

let's get some more people in on this - - I want to get as many as we can before the 15th

Well there were six other break ins last night apparantly, all very similar. So I expect there may be a decent investigation, they've dusted for prints etc and not found anything, but the theives also took my car, so at least they've got something to look for on CCTV etc. It's fingers crossed, but I don't have much hope that i'll get my stuff back.
