Superlizard said:hachikid said:also, speaking of recording, what kind of software would you guys recommend? the fast track ultra I ordered comes with a copy of Ableton Live Lite, but I'm wanting to use it to record songs. do looping, panning, balancing the mix, edit/copy/paste audio clips, possibly effects, program drums, recording bass/vocals/guitar/sax/synth, use Amplitube, things like that. is there one program that does these things? or are these all going to be from different programs. I'm just not sure what to use. I believe Ableton Live Lite will be fine for things like this, but as far as constructing songs, utilizing multiple tracks and all the other stuff that goes along with professional style music production, will just anything do? I'm somewhat of a beginner with this stuff, btw. I have experience with making songs out of pre-existing loops in acid pro, so I kind of understand that, but I've never done anything like making my completely own songs from the ground up on a computer before. I'm using Windows XP, btw.

If everyone can do their own mix and post the bare guitar track, there will be minimal loss of quality when it's all done.
I also think we should just extend the backing track for as long as we need to to accommodate anyone that wants to lay down a solo. It's not a problem to extend the backing, so feel free.
I think if we just do a first come first served deal it will work out great and we won't have to wait as long for people to try an record in any kind of order..
So whoever wants to go next - get your recordings up! :icon_thumright:

Also, should I do my solo on the original MP3 or on the one that already has a solo on there.

I personally haven't noticed a real bad drop in quality of the recordings. We're not making a CD or anything, just a friendly jam for the members. It's entirely up to you though, man. Just seems like a lot of work for something like this.
