To paraphrase that old Lay's Potato Chip commercial - no one can build just one. No matter what you do, it'll end up nice and you'll wanna do it again. Some of us find ourselves pawing through the Showcase almost the minute the last one is done, if not sooner <grin>

Jeez, I haven't finished my first build, my second is already being prepared lol..... Building guitar is fun, Warmoth is perfect for I don't have any of the tool needed to do most of the crafting job

VostreRoy, lol! i'd like to finish at least my first project ;).

Get a black pickguard from warmoth without the white line! More blackness is required!
i was thinking about it, but have decided to leave the pickguard as it is for now. maybe in some future..

by the way i got some complaints to warmoth.

1. i've ordered a neck with a nut "Black Corian". i got "Graph Tech Black TUSQ XL" instead - "precut & installed on neck". first, it's $5 more expensive, and the worse thing - from my prospective, "Black Corian" is more vintage.

2. the ebony fingerboard happened not that black. you can see that light line along all the fingerboard. i'd prefer it completely black. when i tried any lp or prs in GC with ebony necks, i didn't notice any non-black spots.

3. the black tremolo, that i got together with the neck, has screws significantly shorter (!), than stocks. i had to use the old ones and need to find 6 black screws with correct length.

That's what most Gaboon Ebony looks like. The solid black boards you see on mass produced guitars at music stores are dyed.
If you wanted a solid black board, you could have ordered "black Ebony" rather than standard grade.

If you're not opposed to the unnatural aspect of it, Fiebings leather dye is what StewMac recommends for Ebony.

thanks for info. well, next time i'll order "black ebony" ;)

about Fiebings leather dye: won't the neck soil my fingers after dying?

the black trem screws should work just as well as the longer stock ones.
hmm.. i doubt it. won't they sit strong enough?

btw, are the stock tremolo screws standard - i mean, i could go to home depot and buy any screws, that would just fit? or i need them made with some hard steel alloy?

black corian is a relatively new material, it ain't vintage at all!

the fingerboard is lovely. it's wood, really.

assuming, that i want to paint the body in some coffee-ish theme, this fingerboard may happen to fit..

I'm always surprised at how often this comes up.  Wood in nature is pretty variable. It's weight can vary by 50% (or more, I guess) and you get different colors all the time.

What's really funny is that there's probably someone out there who would pay extra for stripey ebony.

ok. yesterday (with a little help of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzIyItNZ6Ic&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL) i've installed the tuners.
